§70 upārdhapārivāsikaḥ ‹pudgalaḥ› saṃghāvaśeṣām āpattim āpannaḥ | etat prakaraṇaṃ bhikṣavo bhagavata ārocayanti | bhagavān āha |
vastu śodhayitvā vinayātisāriṇīṃ ca duṣkṛtām āpatti‹ṃ› deśayitvā upārdhapārivāsika (3) eva san* |
spo ba phyed spyad pa’i gaṅ zag dge ’dun lhag ma’i ltuṅ ba byuṅ ba’i skabs de dge sloṅ rnams kyis bcom ldan ’das la gsol pa daṅ | bcom ldan (4) ’das (H264b5) kyis bka’ stsal pa |
gźi dag par byas te ’dul ba daṅ ’gal ba’i ñes byas kyi ltuṅ ba bśags na de spo ba phyed spyad pa kho na yin no ||
A pārivāsika , who is completing the first half of his parivāsa, namely, an upārdhapārivāsika, commits a saṃghāvaśeṣa offence. The monks inform the blessed one on that matter. The blessed one said;
“after having made the issue clear, [if] he had admitted that this was an offence which is bad, it is a violation of the Vinaya; only then, indeed he is an upārdhapārivāsika.”
