Note on the transliteration:
The transliteration system of the BP/TLB is based on the Unicode/UTF-8 system. However, there may be difficulties with some of the letters – particularly on PC/Windows-based systems, but not so much on the Mac. We have chosen the most accepted older and traditional systems of transliteration against, e.g, Wylie for Tibetan, since with Unicode it is possible, in Sanskrit and Tibetan, etc., to represent one sound with one letter in almost all the cases (excepting Sanskrit and Tibetan aspirated letters, and Tibetan tsa, tsha, dza). We thus do not use the Wylie system which widely employs two letters for one sound (ng, ny, sh, zh etc.).
 
Important:
We ask you in particular to note the use of the ’ apostrophe and not the ' representing the avagrāha in Sanskrit, and most important the ’a-chuṅ in Tibetan. On the Mac the ’ is Alt-M.

菩提行若此 思惟於行福
菩提行莊嚴 一切人皆得

Or, j’ai composé l’Introduction à la pratique de la Bodhi : Par le mérite de cette æuvre puisse toute humanité s’embellir de la pratique de la Bodhi. 
Whatever benefit is mine from creating this Introduction to the Way of Enlightenment,
by it may all beings become ornaments to the Way of Enlightenment. 
sarvāsu dikṣu yāvantaḥ kāyacittavyathāturāḥ |
te prāpnuvantu matpuṇyaiḥ sukhaprāmodyasāgarān ||2|| 
乃至一切處 身心苦惱者
彼得此妙福 歡喜快樂海 
phyogs rnams kun na lus daṅ sems | | sdug bsṅal nad pa ci sñed pa | |
de dag bdag gis bsod nam kyis | | bde dga’ rgya mtsho thob par śog | |(2)

Tous ceux qui, dans tous les mondes, souffrent d’un mal de l’esprit et du corps, puissant-ils obtenir par mes mérites des océans de Bonheur et de délices. 
Let as many beings as there are in all places, who are suffering pain of body or of thought,
obtain by my merits oceans of happiness and of joy. 
āsaṃsāraṃ sukhajyānir mā bhūt teṣāṃ kadā cana |
bodhisattvasukhaṃ prāptuṃ bhavaty avirataṃ jagat ||3|| 
若有不自在 而處輪迴者
使得世間樂 及得菩提樂 
de dag saṅs rgyas bde thob gi | | bar du bde ba ñams ma ’gyur | |
’gro bas bla na myed pa’i | | bde ba rgyun myi ’chad thob śog | |(3) 
de dag ’khor ba ji srid du | | nam yaṅ bde las ñams ma gyur | |

Puisse, jusqu’á la fin du tourbillon des existences, à jamais leur Bonheur être sans disgrâce ; puissent continuellement les Créatures jouir du Bonheur des Bodhisattvas. 
As long as there is rebirth, may there be no loss of happiness to them in any way.
May the world unceasingly obtain the happiness of the Bodhisattva. 
yāvanto nārakāḥ kecid vidyante lokadhātuṣu |
sukhāvatī sukhāmodair modantāṃ teṣu dehinaḥ ||4|| 
若有世界中 乃至於地獄
而令彼等人 悉受極快樂 
’jig rten ’khams na dmyal ba dag | | gaṅ dag ci sñed yod pa rnams | |
de dag du ni lus can rnams | | bde can bde dga’s dga’ bar śog | |(4) 
’jig rten khams na dmyal ba dag | | gaṅ dag ji sñed yod pa rnams | |

Puissent les Créatures, dans tous les enfers de tous les mondes, jouir de toutes les joies les du bienheureux Paradis. 
In as many hells as are found in all spheres of the universe,
may beings enjoy the happiness and the pleasures of paradise. 
śītārtāḥ prāpnuvantūṣṇam uṣṇārtāḥ santu śītalāḥ |
bodhisattvamahāmeghasaṃbhavair jalasāgaraiḥ ||5|| 
寒苦得溫暖 熱苦得淸涼
菩薩大雲覆 復浴法水海 
graṅ bas ñam thag dro thob śog | | byaṅ chub sems dpa’ sprin chen las | |
byuṅ ba’i chu po mtsho yas gis | | tsha bas ñam thag bsil bar śog | |(5)

Que celles qui souffrent du froid soient réchauffées, et rafraichies celles qui souffrent de la chaleur, par les pluies abondantes de ces grands nuages qui sont les Bodhisattvas. 
May those who suffer from cold obtain heat, and may those who suffer from heat be cooled
by the oceans of rains produced by the great Bodhisattva-clouds. 
asipattravanaṃ teṣāṃ syān nandanavanadyutiḥ |
kūṭaśālmalīvṛkṣāś ca jāyantāṃ kalpapādapāḥ ||6|| 
鐵樹鐵山峰 劍林光閃爍
一切成劫樹 罪人喜安樂

śal ma li’i sdoṅ po dag | | dpag bsam śiṅ du ’khruṅs par śog | |(6)

Que pour eux la foret aux feuilles-épées ait les charmes de la foret Paradisiaque ; que les arbres épineux deviennent les arbres bienfaisants. 
May the sword-leaf forest of Yama’s hell become the majestic forest of Indra’s paradise,
and the torturing trees be reborn as wishing trees. 
kādambakāraṇḍavacakravākahaṃsādikolāhalaramyaśobhaiḥ |
sarobhir udyāmasarojagandhair bhavantu hṛdyāḥ narakapradeśāḥ ||7|| 
喻迦那摩迦囉拏 鴛鴦鵝鴈聲適悅
池沼淸淨無濁穢 微妙諸香生喜樂 
mthiṅ ril ṅur pa dag daṅ ṅaṅ pa daṅ | | gśad stsogs skad sñan ’byin pas mdzes gyur ciṅ | |
pad ma dri gsuṅ che ldan mtshogs dag gi | | dmyal ba’i sa phyogs dag ni ñams dgar śog | |(7) 
’thiṅ ril ṅur pa dag daṅ ṅaṅ pa daṅ | | bźad sogs skad sñan ’byin pas mdzes gyur cig | |
pa dma dri bsuṅ che ldan mtsho dag gis | | dmyal ba’i sa phyogs dag ni ñams dgar śog | | 
 
Que les profondeurs des enfers retentissent délicieusement du concert charmant des kâdambas, des flamands, des perroquets, des grues, des cygnes ; qu’ils soient enchanteurs avec leurs sources parfumées par les lotus luxuriants. 
May the regions of hell become charming, with lakes filled with the perfumes of unbounded lotus,
and with the beauty and delightful cries of geese, ducks, cranes, and swans. 
so ’ṅgārar āśir maṇir āśir astu taptā ca bhūḥ sphāṭikakuṭṭimaṃ syāt |
bhavantu saṃghātamahīdharāś ca pūjāvimānāḥ sugataprapūrṇāḥ ||8|| 
地獄爐炭聚 而得摩尼聚 熱地水精嚴
復寶山和合 以如是供養 善逝宮皆滿 
sol phuṅ de yaṅ rin cen phuṅ por gyur | | sa bsregs śel kyi sa gźi bstar par śog | |
bsdus gźom ri bo rnams kyaṅ mchod pa’i | | gźal myed khaṅ gyur bder gśegs gaṅ bar śog | |(8) 
sol phuṅ de dag rin chen phuṅ por gyur | | sa bsrigs śel gyi sa gźi bstar bar śog | |
bsdus ’joms ri bo rnams kyaṅ mchod pa yi | | gźal med khaṅ gyur bde gśegs gaṅ bar śog | | 
 
Que l’amoncellement des charbons enflammés devienne un amoncellement de perles, la terre brûlante un plancher de cristal ! Que les montagnes du Saṃghâta deviennent des palais adorables, habités par les Bouddhas. 
May the charcoal mound become a heap of jewels. And may the heated earth become a crystal pavement.
And may the crushing mountains become celestial mansions filled with Buddhas. 
aṅgārataptopalaśastravṛṣṭir adyaprabhṛty astu ca puṣpavṛṣṭiḥ |
tacchastrayuddhaṃ ca paraspareṇa krīḍārtham adyāstu ca puṣpayuddham ||9|| 
炭火熱劍雨 今後灑花雨
彼劍互相殺 今後花互散 
mdag ma rdo bsregs mtshon gyi char pa dag | | deṅ nas bzuṅ ste me tog char bab gyurd | |
phan tshun mtshon gyis ’debs pa de yaṅ ni | | deṅ nas brje phyir me tog ’phen bar śog | |(9) 
mdag ma rdo bsregs mtshon gyi char pa dag | | deṅ nas bzuṅ ste me tog char par gyur | |
phan tshun mtshon gyis ’debs pa de yaṅ ni | | deṅ nas rtse phyir me tog ’phen par śog | | 
 
Que cette pluie de charbons, de pierres brûlantes et d’épées soit désormais changée en une pluie de fleurs ; ils se battent entre eux avec des épées : que ce soit désormais une fête et une bataille de fleurs. 
May the shower of swords, stones, and burning charcoal be henceforth a flower-rain;
and the unceasing battle of swords be afterwards a joyful flower-battle for the sake of sport. 
patitasakalamāṃsāḥ kundavarṇāsthidehā dahanasamajalāyāṃ vaitaraṇyāṃ nimagnāḥ |
mama kuśalabalena prāptadivyātmabhāvāḥ saha suravanitābhiḥ santu mandākinīsthāḥ ||10|| 
爛搗諸身肉 喻君那花色 肉骨與火同 棄墮奈河水
以我善力故 令得天宮殿 彼光如千日 彼滿那枳儞 
chu bo rab myed mye daṅ ’dra naṅ ’byiṅ ba dag | | śa kun źigs gyur rus khog men tog kun da’i mdog | |
bdag gi dge ba’i stoms(sic) gis lha’i lus thob nas | | lha mo rnams daṅ lhan cig dal gyis ’bab bnas śog | |(10) 
chu bo rab med me doṅ ’dra naṅ byiṅ ba dag | | śa kun źig gyur rus goṅ me tog ku nda’i mdog | |
bdag gi dge ba’i stobs kyis lha yi lus thob nas | | lha mo rnams daṅ lhan cig dal gyis ’bab gnas śog | | 
 
Toute chair est tombée de leur squelette et leurs os ont la teinte du jasmin. Ils sont plongés dans la rivière Vaitaraṇi semblable à la flamme : Puissent-ils, par la force de mes mérites, obtenir une essence divine, et se réjouir avec les femmes célestes dans les flots de la Mandâkinî. 
May those who are submerged in the burning waters of the river of hell—their skeleton-bodies the colour of jasmine,
their flesh wholly destroyed—obtain by the power of my merit, celestial natures and live by the river of heaven with the goddesses. 
trastāḥ paśyantv akasmād iha yamapuruṣāḥ kākagṛdhrāś ca ghorāḥ dhvāntaṃ dhvastaṃ samantāt sukharatijananī kasya saumyā prabheyam |
ity ūrdhvaṃ prekṣamāṇā gaganatalagataṃ vajrapāṇiṃ jvalantaṃ dṛṣṭvā prāmodyavegād vyapagataduritā yāṃ tu tenaiva sārdham ||11|| 
焰魔之獄卒 見者不驚怖 烏鷲等飛類 悉離惡食苦 愛彼普快樂
此得何善生 福喻於虛空 觀此上下等 如見金剛手 速滅除災患 
ci phyir ’dir ni gśin rje myi daṅ khwa daṅ bya rgod myi bzad rnam sgrag byer | | kun nas mun bsal bde ba’i dga’ bskyed byed pa’i mthu bzaṅ ’di go su’i sñam ste | |
gyen du bltas na nam ka’i dkyil na phyag na rdo rje ’bar ba bźugs mthoṅ nas | | rab du dga’ ba’i śugs gis sdig daṅ bral nas de daṅ lhag ’gro bar śog | |(11) 
ci phyir ’dir ni gśin rje’i mi daṅ khra daṅ bya rgod mi bzad rnams skrag byed | | kun nas mun bsal bde dga’ bskyed pa’i mthu bzaṅ ’di ko su yi mthu sñam ste | |
gyen du bltas na nam mkha’i dkyil na phyag na rdo rje ’bar ba bźugs mthoṅ nas | | rab tu dga’ ba’i śugs kyis sdig daṅ bral nas de daṅ lhan cig ’gro bar śog | | 
 
Terrifiés, les bourreaux de Yama, les corneilles et les terribles vautours verront soudain dans les enfers les ténèbres disparaitre : – Qui produit cette douce lumière, cause de Bonheur et d’allégresse ? – Parlant ainsi ils regardent vers le ciel : ils contempleront le splendide Vajrapâṇi : en même temps, par le transport de la joie, leur destinée mauvaise s’évanouit. 
May the trembling demons of Yama and the terrible crows and vultures suddenly behold the darkness dispersed; and ask themselves, “who can illumine with moonlight, begetting happiness and joy on every side?”
and having seen flaming Vajrapāṇi coming through the firmament, having beheld freedom from sin and seen distress disappear, may they thus embrace with him. 
patati kamalavṛṣṭir gandhapānīyamiśrāc chamiti narakavahniṃ dṛśyate nāśayantī |
kim idam iti sukhenāhlāditaṃ nāma kasmād bhavatu kamalapāṇer darśanaṃ nārakāṇām ||12|| 
降彼花香雨 破滅地獄火 云何名快樂
云何名歡喜 處彼地獄者 得見觀自在

me tog char pa spos chu daṅ ’dres babs pa yis | | dmyal ba’i me mdag chil chil gsod par mthoṅ gyur nas | |
glo bur bde bas tshim pa ’di ci bsam pa daṅ | | sems dmyal rnams kyis phyag na pa dma mthoṅ bar śog | | 
 
Il tombe une pluie de Lotus mêlée de parfums et de boissons. « Bénédiction ! » elle apaise le feu des enfers. « Quel est ce miracle ? » Les Créatures infernales se réjouiront en pleine joie, quand apparaîtra celui dont la main porte un Lotus. 
Let fall a lotus-rain mingled with perfumed waters so that even the dwellers of hell may be quieted.
Let them wonder, “What is this?” as they are refreshed with happiness. Let Kamalapāṇi appear to the inhabitants of hell. 
āyātāyāta śīghraṃ bhayam apanayata bhrātaro jīvitāḥ smaḥ saṃprāpto ’smākam eṣa jvaladabhayakaraḥ ko ’pi cīrīkumāraḥ |
sarvaṃ yasyānubhāvād vyasanam apagataṃ prītivegāḥ pravṛttāḥ jātaṃ saṃbodhicittaṃ sakalajanaparitrāṇamātā dayā ca ||13|| 
同一切威德 俱胝髻童子 大悲菩提心
救度於一切 以彼天供養 天冠及天花

’gro ba kun nas yoṅs skyob byaṅ chub sems daṅ brtse ba skyes gyur pa | | gźon nu zur phud can ’bar ’jigs pa med par byed pa ci źig phyin | | 
 
Venez, venez vite! Soyez sans terreur, ô mes frères, nous sommes rendus à la vie ! Il est à nous ce jeune homme inconnu, habillé d’écorce, qui fait peur aux flammes. Par sa vertu miraculeuse, toute misère a été détruite. Les sources de joie se sont ouvertes, car elle est née, miséricordieuse, la pensée de Bodhi parfaite, mère de sécurité pour tous les hommes. 
Come! Come, quickly! Let fear depart! brothers who were living beings. That Prince with necklaces, the flaming bearer of peace, has descended to us;
he at whose gesture all calamity disappears, floods of pleasure arise, the total Thought of Enlightenment is born, and also compassion, the mother-refuge of all beings. 
paśyantv enaṃ bhavantaḥ suraśatamukuṭair arcyamānāṅghripadmaṃ kāruṇyād ārdradṛṣṭiṃ śirasi nipatitānekapuṣpaughavṛṣṭim |
kūṭāgārair manojñaiḥ stutimukharasurastrīsahasropagītair dṛṣṭvāgre mañjughoṣaṃ bhavatu kalakalaḥ sāṃprataṃ nārakāṇām ||14|| 
乃至悲心花 適悅寶樓閣
天女之言說 百千種歌詠 讚大聖文殊 
khyod kyis lha brgya’i cod pan dag gis źabs kyi pad ma la mchod ciṅ |6 | thugs rjes brlan spyan dbu la men tog du ma’i tshogs kyi char ’bab pa |7
| khaṅ brtsegs yid ’oṅ lha mo stoṅ phrag bstod dbyaṅs sgrogs ldan ’di stos śes | | ’jam dbyaṅs de ’dra mthoṅ nas da ni sems dmyal ku co ’don par śog | |(14) 
khyod kyi lha brgya’i cod pan dag gis źabs kyi pa dma la mchod ciṅ | | thugs rje’i rlan spyan dbu la me tog du ma’i tshogs kyis char ’bab pa | |
khaṅ brtsegs yid ’oṅ lha mo stoṅ phrag bstod dbyaṅs sgrogs ldan ’di ltos źes | | ’jam dbyaṅs de ’dra mthoṅ nas da ni sems dmyal ca co ’don par śog | | 
 
Puissiez-vous le voir ce jeune home! Les Suras par centaines honorent avec leur tête le Lotus de ses pieds : ses yeux sont humides de miséricorde, sur sa tête tombent en pluie abondante d’innombrables fleurs ; des milliers de femmes célestes font retentir à pleine bouche ses louanges : Tel est Mañjughosha. Puissent ainsi l’apercevoir, sur la ravissante terrase, les Créatures infernales, et pousser des cris de joie. 
Behold! At the foot of his lotus are the shining diadems of hundreds of gods. At his head, his vision blurred with compassion, there is a rainstorm of many flowers
falling from pleasing aerial palaces wherein thousands of feminine divinities sing his praises. Let there resound also, as is proper, the acclamation of those in hell as they behold Mañjughoṣa before them. 
iti matkuśalaiḥ samantabhadrapramukhānāvṛtabodhisattvameghān |
sukhaśītasugandhavātavṛṣṭīn abhinandantu vilokya nārakās te ||15|| 
及普賢菩薩 以此善功德
同於地獄者 
de ltar bdag gi dge rtsas kun tu8 bzaṅ la brtsogs | | byaṅ chub sems dpa’ sgrib9 myed sprin bde daṅ | |

de ltar bdag gi dge rtsas kun tu bzaṅ la sogs | | byaṅ chub sems dpa’ sgrib pa med sprin bde ba daṅ | |
bsil źiṅ dri źim daṅ ldan char pa ’bebs mthoṅ nas | | sems can dmyal ba de dag mṅon par dga’ gyur cig | | 
 
Puissent, par la vertu de mes mérites, les créatures infernales contempler les nuages qui sont les Bodhisattvas manifestés, Samantabhadra et ses compagnons, nuages qui pleuvent par une brise propice, parfumée et rafraîchissante. 
By my merits may those in hell welcome the appearance of clouds of Bodhisattvas; freed from hindrance;
headed by Samantabhadra; joyful, cool, sweet-smelling, windy rains. 
śāmyantu vedanās tīvrā nārakāṇāṃ bhayāni ca |
durgatibhyo vimucyantāṃ sarvadurgativāsinaḥ ||16|| 
如彼北洲人 色力幷壽命

Puissent s’apaiser les souffrances terribles et les épouvantes des Créatures infernales. Que tous ceux qui demeurent dans les destinées mauvaises soient délivrés des mauvaises destinées. 
Let them quiet the intense agonies and fears of hell.
May those dwelling in misfortune be released from their misfortunes. 
anyonyabhakṣaṇabhayaṃ tiraścām apagacchatu |
bhavantu sukhinaḥ pretā yathottarakurau narāḥ ||17|| 
濟彼諸餓鬼 與食與洗浴
令飽滿淸涼 離苦得快樂 
dud ’gro rnams12 ni gcig la gcig | | za ba’i13 ’jigs daṅ bral bar śog | |
sgra myi sñan pa’i myi bźin tu | | yi dags rnams ni bde bar gyurd14 | |(16) 
dud ’gro rnams ni gcig la gcig | | za ba’i ’jigs daṅ bral bar śog | |

Que les animaux soient délivrés de la frayeur de se manger les uns les autres ; que les Fantômes soient heureux, comme aussi les hommes de l’Uttarakuru. 
May the fear vanish which animals have of being eaten by one another.
May ghosts become happy beings like the men of northern India. 
saṃtarpyantāṃ pretāḥ snāpyantāṃ śītalā bhavantu sadā |
āryāvalokiteśvarakaragalitakṣīradhārābhiḥ ||18|| 
大聖觀自在 觀察地獄苦
無量苦可怖 手出甘露乳 
’phags pa phyan ras gzigs dbaṅ gi | | phyag nas ’babs pa’i ’od rgyun[cf : St.630 ; St.629 : ’o rgyun] gyis | |
yi dags rnams ni tshim byas śiṅ | | khrus byas rtag tu bsil bar śog | |(17) 
’phags pa spyan ras gzigs dbaṅ gi | | phyag nas ’bab pa’i ’o rgyun gyis | |
yi dags rnams ni tshim byas śiṅ | | khrus byas rtag tu bsil bar śog | | 
 
Que les Morts soient rassasiés, baignés, et continuellement rafraichis par les sources de lait qui s’échappent des mains du noble Avalokiteçvara. 
May ghosts be refreshed; may they be bathed, and always cooled,
by the streams of milk trickling from the fingers of the noble Avalokiteśvara. 
andhāḥ paśyantu rūpāṇi śṛṇvantu badhirāḥ sadā |
garbhiṇyaś ca prasūyantāṃ māyādevīva nirvyathāḥ ||19|| 
聾者得聞聲 盲者得見色
妊娠及產生 喻摩耶無苦

lha mo sgyu ’phrul bźin du ni | | sbrum ma ’aṅ gnod myed btsa bar śog | |(18)

Puissent les aveugles recouvrer la vue! Puissent les sourds recouvres l’ouie ; que les femmes enceintes soient délivrées sans douleur comme la divine Mâyâ. 
May the blind behold forms. May the deaf always hear, and may pregnant women give birth, like Queen Māyā [mother of the Buddha] without pain. 
vastrabhojanapānīyaṃ srakcandanavibhūṣaṇam |
mano ’bhilaṣitaṃ sarvaṃ labhantāṃ hitasaṃhitam ||20|| 
雖衣雖飮食 莊嚴而淸淨
一切隨求意 得利復得益

Vêtement, nourriture, boisson, et le sandal qui parfume la peau, que tout désir soit réalisé, et que le Salut s’accomplisse. 
May all have clothes, food and drink, garlands, sandalwood fragrance, ornaments,
all that the heart desires, and all that is most advantageous.
