ELINA.
It is there! Yes, by the cross of Christ it is there!

BJØRN
(rejser sig).
Hvad er der? Hvor?

BIÖRN
(rises).

ELINE.
Hun selv, – i riddersalen –
(hun iler op mod baggrunden.)

ELINA.
It is she--in the hall. (Goes hastily towards the hall.)

BJØRN
(følger efter).
Hvor kan I tro –? Jomfru Eline, – gå til jert kammer!

BIÖRN
(following).
How can you think----? Mistress Elina, go to your chamber!

ELINE.
Hys; stå stille! Rør dig ikke; lad dig ikke se! Vent; – der kommer månen frem –. Kan du skimte den sorte skikkelse –?

ELINA.
Hush; stand still! Do not move; do not let her see you! Wait--the moon is coming out. Can you not see the black-robed figure----?

BJØRN.
Ved alle hellige –!

BIÖRN.
By all the holy----!

ELINE.
Ser du, – der vender hun Knut Alfsøns billede indad mod væggen. Ha-ha; det stirrer hende nok for stivt i øjnene!

ELINA.
Do you see--she turns Knut Alfson’s picture to the wall. Ha-ha; be sure it looks her too straight in the eyes!

BJØRN.
Jomfru Eline, hør mig!

BIÖRN.
Mistress Elina, hear me!

ELINE
(idet hun går nedover mod ildstedet).
Nu véd jeg, hvad jeg véd!

ELINA
(going back towards the fireplace).
Now I know what I know!

BJØRN
(hen for sig).
Så er det dog sandt!

BIÖRN
(to himself).
Then it is true!
