Note on the transliteration:
The transliteration system of the BP/TLB is based on the Unicode/UTF-8 system. However, there may be difficulties with some of the letters – particularly on PC/Windows-based systems, but not so much on the Mac. We have chosen the most accepted older and traditional systems of transliteration against, e.g, Wylie for Tibetan, since with Unicode it is possible, in Sanskrit and Tibetan, etc., to represent one sound with one letter in almost all the cases (excepting Sanskrit and Tibetan aspirated letters, and Tibetan tsa, tsha, dza). We thus do not use the Wylie system which widely employs two letters for one sound (ng, ny, sh, zh etc.).
 
Important:
We ask you in particular to note the use of the ’ apostrophe and not the ' representing the avagrāha in Sanskrit, and most important the ’a-chuṅ in Tibetan. On the Mac the ’ is Alt-M.

Uddāna 2. Background for the establishment of the Pravāraṇākarma. A group of monks once, during the rainy season, kept a vow of silence. As one of them related this to the Buddha, he said that this was a practice of the Tīrthikas, and he banned it. Then the Buddha established the pravāraṇā, and made rules for the ceremony. Panglung p. 13. 
     
saṅs rgyas bcom ldan ’das mñan yod na (7) rgyal bu rgyal byed kyi tshal mgon med zas sbyin gyi kun dga’ ra bar dbyar bźugs par dam bźes so || de’i tshe dge sloṅ rab tu maṅ po dag ljoṅs śig tu khrims su bca’ ba ’di lta bu dag byas nas dbyar gnas par dam bcas te | tshe daṅ ldan pa dag bdag cag gi naṅ (222a1) na dge sloṅ gaṅ gis kyaṅ dbyar gyi naṅ logs su dge sloṅ la tshul khrims ñams śe’am | lta ba ñams śe’am | spyod pa ñams śe’am | ’tsho ba ñams źes gleṅ bar mi bya dran par mi bya’o || bdag cag gi naṅ na gaṅ gis chu ra’i bum pa ’am | (2) khrus kyi bum pa stoṅ pa skam po chu med par mthoṅ na | gal te gcig pus nus par gyur na gcig pu des bkaṅ la gnas ji ltab bźin du gźag par bya’o || gal te gcig pus mi nus par gyur na dge sloṅ cig śos la lag brda’i sgra byas te lag rub kyis gnas (3) ji lta ba bźin du bźag nas gcig la gcig mi smra bar kha rog ste ’gro bar bya’o źes de lta bu’i khrims su bca’ bdag byas nas ljoṅs su dbyar gnas par dam bcas so ||  de nas dge sloṅ rab tu maṅ po dbyar zla ba gsum ’das na chos gos byas pa daṅ ldan | chos (4) gos zin pa daṅ ldan nas lhuṅ bzed daṅ chos gos thogs te | phan tshun mi smra bar mñan yod ga la ba de logs su rgyu źiṅ doṅ ste | rim gyis rgyu źiṅ doṅ ba daṅ | mñan yoṅ du phyin to ||  de nas dge sloṅ rab tu maṅ pos lhuṅ bzed daṅ chos gos mkhos su phab ste | (5) rkaṅ pa gñis bkrus nas | bcom ldan ’das gaṅ na ba der doṅ ste phyin nas | bcom ldan ’das kyi źabs gñis la ma go bos phyag byas te phyogs gcig tu ’khod do || 
(14)爾時薄伽梵在室羅筏城逝多林給孤獨園。(15)三月雨安居。時有衆多苾芻。於餘處安居。各(16)共立制。作如是言。諸具壽。我等安居三月。不(17)應言諸破戒。破見。破軌儀。非正命等。若見有(18)厠草闕。及君持無水。應即添著并安舊處。若(19)獨自不能爲者。應以手喚伴共作。  制已各還(20)舊處。如是不語。經三月滿已。補洗衣服訖。著(21)衣持鉢。從安居處。漸已遊行。往室羅筏城。  到(22)已各置衣鉢。洗足已。至世尊所。頭面禮足。在(23)一面坐。

諸佛常法客苾芻來。先加慰問。汝從(24)何來。道路安樂耶。何處安居。白言。我等於禪(25)那鉢多安居。纔從彼來。於彼安居。甚得安穩(26)和合。亦不以乞食爲苦。  但縁我等衆多苾芻。(27)於彼安居三月之内。各共立制。於安居中不(28)相共語。乃至如上立制法中具説。得安樂住。(29)不以乞食爲患。  佛告諸苾芻曰。汝等愚癡。無(1045a1)一智人。汝等云何作此非法制。令不共語耶。(2)猶如怨家共住食怨家食。此甚爲苦。云何乃(3)言得安樂住。是外道法。是愚癡法。非出要法。(4)佛言。汝等苾芻。自今已後。作唖默法者。得越(5)法罪。

若苾芻安居竟。佛言。應請三事見聞疑。(6)作隨意事。
