Note on the transliteration:

The transliteration system of the BP/TLB is based on the Unicode/UTF-8 system. However, there may be difficulties with some of the letters – particularly on PC/Windows-based systems, but not so much on the Mac. We have chosen the most accepted older and traditional systems of transliteration against, e.g, Wylie for Tibetan, since with Unicode it is possible, in Sanskrit and Tibetan, etc., to represent one sound with one letter in almost all the cases (excepting Sanskrit and Tibetan aspirated letters, and Tibetan tsa, tsha, dza). We thus do not use the Wylie system which widely employs two letters for one sound (ng, ny, sh, zh etc.).

Important:

We ask you in particular to note the use of the ’ apostrophe and not the ' representing the avagrāha in Sanskrit, and most important the ’a-chuṅ in Tibetan. On the Mac the ’ is Alt-M.

(9)佛在室羅伐城給孤獨園。(10)時六眾苾芻於安居中共分衣利。因生違惱。為受衣事。(11)過限廢闕。譏嫌煩惱。制斯學處。(12)若復苾芻前三月。雨安居十日未滿。有急施衣。(13)苾芻須者應受。乃至施衣時應畜。(14)若過畜者泥薩祇波逸底迦。時勝光王邊境反叛。(15)敕大將軍善劍令總師旅。伐彼不臣。是時將軍便入寺中。(16)告諸苾芻。兵戈交戰形命難保。我今施衣。(17)欲自親授。時諸苾芻不敢受之。(18)爾時將軍留衣而去。聚在一處。多被蟲傷時。(19)諸苾芻舉以白佛。佛言。應受。受已應白二羯磨。(20)差具五德者為掌衣人言十日未滿者。謂猶有十日。(21)未至八月十五日。言急施衣者。(22)有五種急難施衣。謂自遭病施。為病人施。欲死時施。(23)為死者施。將行時施。又有釋云。急難施衣者。(24)謂非時衣。言應受者。謂合受衣時。言應畜者。(25)謂五月一月。若不張羯恥那衣齊九月半。(26)若張羯恥那衣至正月半。此是世尊開饒益事。(27)過此而畜。咸得捨墮。若有五種急施衣時。隨受應分。(28)若施主言我欲自手而行施者。(29)雖未至限亦應受之。無犯者謂已差。得掌衣人。(564a1)若施主作如是語。可留此衣。待我還日。自手持施者。(2)此不應分。實未分別。作未分別想疑。(3)句數如上。隨意之後王為閏月者。應隨舊安居日。(4)而畜持之。
