Note on the transliteration:

The transliteration system of the BP/TLB is based on the Unicode/UTF-8 system. However, there may be difficulties with some of the letters – particularly on PC/Windows-based systems, but not so much on the Mac. We have chosen the most accepted older and traditional systems of transliteration against, e.g, Wylie for Tibetan, since with Unicode it is possible, in Sanskrit and Tibetan, etc., to represent one sound with one letter in almost all the cases (excepting Sanskrit and Tibetan aspirated letters, and Tibetan tsa, tsha, dza). We thus do not use the Wylie system which widely employs two letters for one sound (ng, ny, sh, zh etc.).

Important:

We ask you in particular to note the use of the ’ apostrophe and not the ' representing the avagrāha in Sanskrit, and most important the ’a-chuṅ in Tibetan. On the Mac the ’ is Alt-M.

(16)佛在室羅伐城給孤獨園。(17)六眾苾芻數被賊奪。因斯過分乞上下衣。事惱同前。(18)制斯學處。若復苾芻奪衣失衣燒衣吹衣漂衣。(19)從非親居士居士婦乞衣。彼多施衣。(20)苾芻若須應受上下二衣。若過受者泥薩祇波逸底迦。(21)言施者。謂重重施慇懃施。真心施詐心施。(22)勝心施劣心施。期心施隨順施。不順施自財施。(23)他財施共他施。去時施還時施。(24)瞋心施喜心施。串習施不串施。現相施自言施。(25)遣他施自手施。此等施相據施主心。有斯差別。(26)隨順施詐心施瞋心施乞得之時。得惡作罪。(27)餘皆本罪。言上下衣者。有其二種。一苾芻上下衣。(28)上者僧伽胝橫五肘豎三肘。(29)下者是裙橫五肘豎二肘。二俗人上下衣。(557c1)上者長十一肘闊三肘。下者長七肘闊二肘。有云。(2)下者謂裙及僧腳崎。上者謂三法衣。(3)若乞苾芻上下衣。或乞俗人上下衣各依量。得者無犯。(4)若過量求者乞時得惡作。入手犯捨墮。(5)若乞俗人上下衣。縱少不足。不應更乞。(6)若更乞者得罪。若有盈長不須還主。(7)若乞苾芻上下衣不足者。應須更乞。若長應還。(8)若不還者得捨墮罪。
