لأنّ غايتنا منها إيجاد أدب مصري موسوم بطابع شخصيتنا المصرية ويمثّل حياتنا الاجتماعية والنفسية والوطنية .

li-ʔanna ġāyata-nā min-hā ʔīǧād ʔadab miṣrī mawsūm bi-ṭābiʕ šaḫṣiyyati-nā ’l-miṣriyyaẗ wa-yumaṯṯil^u ḥayāta-nā ’l-iǧtimāʕiyyaẗ wa’l-nafsiyyaẗ wa’l-waṭaniyyaẗ.

For what we aim at with them is the creation of an Egyptian literature that carries the traits of our Egyptian [national] character and will be representative of our social, emotional and national life.

وقد جاء الدكتور أحمد ضيف أستاذ الآداب العربية بالجامعة المصرية في كتابه "مقدّمة في بلاغة العرب" مؤيداً لنا في نظريتنا

In his book Introduction to the Rhetoric of the Arabs,¹ Dr Aḥmad Ḍayf,² Professor of Arabic Literature at the Egyptian University,³ has shown to be a supporter of our theory

Egyptian literary critic, 1880-1945. »Ḍayf was one of the first theorists of the so-called adab qawmī, which aimed to create a new literature marked by realism, local colour and a Western style« – Ed C.M.
