وحينذاك ، وحينذاك فقط ، يمكن أنْ تُعَدَّ الأمّةُ المصرية من الأمم المستقلّة الراقية مهما كان نظامها السياسي ، لأنّ الآداب معيار رقي الأمّة ،

wa-ḥīnaḏāk^a, wa-ḥīnaḏāk^a faqaṭ, yumkin^u ʔan tuʕadd^a ’l-ʔummaẗ^u al-miṣriyyaẗ^u min al-ʔumamⁱ ’l-mustaqillaẗⁱ ’l-rāqiyaẗⁱ mahmā kāna niẓāmu-hā ’l-siyāsī, li-ʔanna ’l-ʔādāb miʕyār ruqiyy al-ʔummaẗ,

Then, and only then, will it be possible to count the Egyptian nation among the [world’s] independent advanced nations, no matter what political system it will have; for literature/ culture is the criterion for a nation’s progress(iveness).
