(lukker døren).
Se så. Men hvad er det dog for noget, som ingen må høre?

BERNICK
schließt die Tür.
So. – Also was ist denn so Schlimmes, daß niemand es hören soll?

BERNICK
(shutting the door).
There, then! But what is this that no one else must hear?

博尼克
(把门关严)
好了。你这么鬼鬼祟祟的干什么?

FULDMÆGTIG KRAP.
Det er det, at bygmester Aune nok har isinde at lade „Indian Girl“ gå tilbunds med mand og mus.

KRAP.
Nun denn – dieser Aune hat wahrscheinlich die Absicht, »Indian Girl« mit Mann und Maus ersaufen zu lassen.

KRAP.
Just this--that I believe Aune intends to let the “Indian Girl” go to the bottom with every mother’s son on board.

克拉普
是这么回事：据我看，渥尼想把“印第安少女”号船上的人都送到海里去喂鱼。

KONSUL BERNICK.
Men Gud forbarme sig, hvor kan De tro –?

BERNICK.
Um Gotteswillen, wie können Sie nur glauben –?

BERNICK.
Good God!--what makes you think that?

岂有此理!这是什么话?

FULDMÆGTIG KRAP.
Kan ikke forklare mig det på anden måde, herr konsul.

KRAP.
Kann es mir auf andere Weise nicht erklären, Herr Konsul.

KRAP.
I cannot account for it any other way, sir.

克拉普
除此之外，我想不出别的道理，博尼克先生。

KONSUL BERNICK.
Nå, så sig mig dog i få ord –

BERNICK.
Na, so sagen Sie mir doch in kurzen Worten –

BERNICK.
Well, tell me as briefly as you can

FULDMÆGTIG KRAP.
Skal så. De véd selv, hvor sendrægtigt det er gåt på værftet, siden vi fik de nye maskiner og de nye uvante arbejdere.

KRAP.
Soll geschehen. Sie wissen selbst, wie schlampig es auf der Werft hergeht, seit wir die neuen Maschinen und die neuen, ungeübten Arbeiter haben.

KRAP.
I will. You know yourself how slowly the work has gone on in the yard since we got the new machines and the new inexperienced hands?

克拉普
好吧。你知道不知道，自从厂里安了新机器，雇了生手的新工人，咱们的工程做得多么慢?

KONSUL BERNICK.
Ja, ja.

BERNICK.
Ja, ja.

BERNICK.
Yes, yes.

博尼克
知道，知道。

FULDMÆGTIG KRAP.
Men imorges, da jeg kom derned, mærked jeg, at reparationen på Amerikaneren var skredet påfaldende vidt frem; det store spunds i bunden, – De véd, det pilrådne sted –

KRAP.
Aber heut früh, als ich hinunter kam, da merkte ich, daß die Reparatur des Amerikaners auffallend weit vorgeschritten war; das große Leck im Boden – Sie wissen, die faule Stelle –

KRAP.
But this morning, when I went down there, I noticed that the repairs to the American boat had made extraordinary progress; the great hole in the bottom--the rotten patch, you know--

可是今天上午我到厂里去的时候看见那只美国船的修理工程做得飞快。船底的大窟窿--你知道，就是那个烂补钉--

KONSUL BERNICK.
Ja, ja, hvad det?

BERNICK.
Nun ja, – was ist damit?

BERNICK.
Yes, yes--what about it?

博尼克
是，是，窟窿怎么样?

FULDMÆGTIG KRAP.
Fuldstændig repareret, – tilsyneladende da; forhudet; så ganske ud som nyt; hørte, at Aune selv havde arbejdet med lys dernede hele natten.

KRAP.
Vollständig repariert; das heißt: dem Anschein nach; verschalt; sah aus wie ganz neu. Hörte, daß Aune selbst die ganze Nacht bei Licht unten gearbeitet hatte.

KRAP.
Was completely repaired--to all appearance at any rate, covered up--looked as good as new. I heard that Aune himself had been working at it by lantern light the whole night.

从外面看起来，窟窿完全补好了，勾抹得很整齐，看着像新的一样。我听说渥尼打着灯笼亲自动手干了一整夜。
