Bleibst Du an der Schwelle kleben. 
AGNES
(brudt).
Viljen ske. Mit hjertes rødder
skal jeg træde under fødder.
Kvinde, kom og tag imod; –
deles skal min overflod – 
AGNES.
[Crushed.]

(gebrochen.)
Nun, Dein Willen, er geschehe.

(med vild styrke).
Heller dræbes jeg, end stjæles
alt ifra! Se, jeg har veget
fod for fod! Jeg kan ej længer!
Halvt er nok; ej mer hun trænger! 
AGNES.
[Wildly.]

AGNES.
Eher mag mich Tod ereilen,
Als ich noch mehr gebe. Stiehl

BRAND.
Var det hele da formeget,
da det købtes til dit eget? 
BRAND.

War das Ganze auch zu viel,
Als für Dein Kind es gekauft ward? 
AGNES
(giver).
Kvinde, kom; se her, tag kåben,
som mit eget bar i dåben.
Her er kjolen, skærfet, kuften;
den er god mod natteluften;
her den lille silkekyse;
under den han skal ej fryse;
tag det; tag til sidste pjalt – 
AGNES.
[Gives.]

AGNES
(gibt dem Weib ein Stück ums andere.)
Komm, hier nimm das Mäntelchen,
Das er trug, als er getauft ward.
Hier sind Schärpe, Kleid und Röckchen, –
Das hält warm bei Nacht und Wind, –
Hier das Häubchen, hier die Söckchen, –
Darin tut kein Frost ihm weh;
Nimm den letzten Fetzen denn –
