SKIKKELSEN.
Lever sund og rød!
Alle sorger har du drømt;
al din kamp var ikkun skrømt.
Alf er hos din gamle moer;
hun er frisk og han er stor;
end er bygdens kirke til;
den kan rives, hvis du vil; –
sognets folk dernede slider
jævnt, som i de gode tider.
THE PHANTOM.
And with unfaded brow!
All thy sorrows did but seem!
All thy batles were a dream,
Alf is with thy mother; she
Vigorous yet, and stalwart he;
Still the old Church stands entire;
Pluck it down if thou desire;—
And the dalesmen still drudge on
As they did in good days gone.
DIE ERSCHEINUNG.
Ja, lebt, gesund und rot!
All Dein Leid war Traum und Trug,
All Dein Streit ein leerer Spuk.
Alf sitzt auf Großmutters Schoß;
Sie genas, und er ward groß.
Auch die Kirch’ steht noch wie einst;
Bau’ sie größer, wenn Du meinst; –
Drunten mühn im Dorf die Leute
Still sich hin, wie einst so heute.
