Note on the transliteration:
The transliteration system of the BP/TLB is based on the Unicode/UTF-8 system. However, there may be difficulties with some of the letters – particularly on PC/Windows-based systems, but not so much on the Mac. We have chosen the most accepted older and traditional systems of transliteration against, e.g, Wylie for Tibetan, since with Unicode it is possible, in Sanskrit and Tibetan, etc., to represent one sound with one letter in almost all the cases (excepting Sanskrit and Tibetan aspirated letters, and Tibetan tsa, tsha, dza). We thus do not use the Wylie system which widely employs two letters for one sound (ng, ny, sh, zh etc.).
 
Important:
We ask you in particular to note the use of the ’ apostrophe and not the ' representing the avagrāha in Sanskrit, and most important the ’a-chuṅ in Tibetan. On the Mac the ’ is Alt-M.

kiṃ punaḥ kāraṇam ubhayādhīnāyāṃ vijñānotpattau cakṣurādayaḥ evāśrayā ucyante na rūpādayaḥ | 
識生(20)隨屬二縁。復有何因。但説眼等爲彼依。不説(21)色等。 
何因識起倶託二縁得所依名在(19)根非境。

tadvikāravikāritvād āśrayāś cakṣurādayaḥ | 
偈曰。隨根異識異。故眼等成依。 
頌曰(20)隨根變識異 故眼等名依

dhātava ity adhikāraḥ |  cakṣurādīnāṃ hi vikāreṇa tadvijñānānāṃ vikāro bhavaty anugrahopaghātapaṭumandatānuvidhānāt na tu rūpādīnāṃ vikāreṇa tadvikāraḥ |  tasmāt sādhīyas tad adhīnatvād evāśrayā na rūpādayaḥ | 
  釋曰。(22)由眼等根有差別故。諸識亦有差別。眼等根(23)若有増損。諸識隨之則有明昧。不由色等差(24)別諸識變異。  於識二縁中眼等勝故。立爲識(25)依。不説色等。色等是識所識。 
(21)論曰。眼等即是眼等六界。  由眼等根有轉(22)變故。諸識轉異。隨根増損識明昧故。非色(23)等變令識有異。  以識隨根不隨境故。依名(24)唯在眼等非餘。

復有何因。説爲(26)眼識乃至意識。  不説爲色識乃至法識。  由眼(27)等是彼依故。約根説識。 
何縁色等正是所識。而名(25)眼識乃至意識  不名色識乃至法識。

復次偈曰。由彼不共(28)因。故約根説識。 
頌曰(26)彼及不共因 故隨根説識

katham asādhāraṇatvam | na hi cakṣuranyasya vijñānasyāśrayībhavitum utsahate |  rūpaṃ tu manovijñānasyālambanībhavaty anyacakṣurvijñānasyāpīti |  evaṃ yāvat kāyo veditavyaḥ |  tasmād āśrayabhāvād asādhāraṇatvāc ca vijñānaṃ tenaiva nirdiśyate na rūpādibhiḥ |  yathā bherīśabdo yavāṅkura iti | 
釋曰。云何不共因。此眼根(29)不得爲餘識依色可。得  爲意識縁縁。及爲他(172b1)眼識境。  乃至身亦爾。  由識依止。及由不共因。(2)是故約根説識。不約色等。  譬如鼓聲麥芽。 
(27)論曰。彼謂前説眼等名依。根是依故隨根(28)説識。及不共者。謂眼唯自眼識所依。  色亦通(29)爲他身眼識及通自他意識所取。  乃至身觸(12c1)應知亦爾。  由所依勝及不共因故。識得名(2)隨根非境。  如名鼓聲及麥牙等。

atha yatra kāye sthitaś cakṣuṣā rūpāṇi paśyati kiṃ tāni kāyacakṣūrūpavijñānānyekabhūmikāny eva bhavanty āho svid anyabhūmikāny api |  āha | sarveṣāṃ bhedaḥ |  kāmadhātūpapannasya svena cakṣuṣā svāni rūpāṇi paśyataḥ sarvaṃ svabhūmikam bhavati |  tasyaiva svāni rūpāṇi prathamadhyānabhūmīni paśyano rūpāṇi trīṇy api tadbhūmikāni |  dvitīyadhyānacakṣuṣā svāni rūpāṇi paśyataḥ kāyarūpe svabhūmike cakṣus tadbhūmikaṃ vijñānaṃ prathamadhyānabhūmikam |  prathamadhyānabhūmīni paśyato vijñānarupe tadbhūmike kāyaḥ kāmāvacaraś cakṣur dvitīyadhyānabhūmikam |  dvitīyadhyānabhūmīni paśyataś cakṣūarūpe tadbhūmike kāyaḥ kāmāvacaro vijñānaṃ prathamabhūmīkam |  evaṃ tṛtīyacaturthadhyānabhūmikena cakṣuṣā tadbhūmikādharabhumikāni rūpāṇi paśyato yojayitavyam |  prathmadhyānopapannasya svena cakṣuṣā svāni rūpāṇi paśyataḥ sarvaṃ svabhūmikamadharāṇi paśyataḥ trayaṃ svabhūmikaṃ |  dvitīyadhyānacakṣuṣā svāni rūpāṇi paśyatas trayaṃ svabhūmikaṃ cakṣus tadbhūmikam |  kāmāvacarāṇi paśyataḥ kāyavijñāne svabhūmike rūpāṇy adharāṇi cakṣus tadbhūmikam |  dvitīyadhyānabhūmīni paśyataś cakṣūrūpe tadbhūmike śeṣaṃ svabhūmikam |  evaṃ tṛtīyadhyānacakṣuṣā yojyam |  dvitīyādidhyānopapannasya svaparacakṣurbhyāṃ svaparabhūmikāni rūpāṇi paśyato yathāyogaṃ yojayitavyam | 
(3)若人在此身中。由眼見色。是身眼色識。爲是(4)一地。爲是別地。  一切皆異。  若人生欲界。由(5)自地眼見自地色。此四種同在自地。  若此人(6)由初定眼見自地色。身及色倶在自地。眼及(7)識屬初定。若見初定色。則三種屬初定。  若由(8)二定眼見自地色。身及色在自地。眼屬二定。(9)識屬初定。  若見初定色。色及識屬初定。身在(10)自地。眼屬二定。  若見二定色。眼及色屬二(11)定。身在自地。識屬初定。  如此由三定四定。(12)眼若見自地及下地色。應如理推合。  若人生(13)在初定地。由自地眼見自地色。此四皆屬自(14)地。若見下地色。則三種在自地。  若由二定眼(15)見自地色。則三種在自地。  若見欲界色。身及(16)識在自地。色在下界。眼屬二定。  若見二定(17)色。眼及色屬二定。餘二在自地。  由三定等眼。(18)亦應如理推合。  若生二定等地。由自地眼(19)若見自他地色。亦應如理推合。 
隨身所(3)住眼見色時。身眼色識地爲同不。  應言此(4)四或異或同。  謂生欲界。若以自地眼見自(5)地色。四皆自地。  若以初靜慮眼見欲界色。(6)身色欲界眼識初定。見初定色。身屬欲界(7)三屬初定。  若以二靜慮眼見欲界色。身色(8)欲界眼屬二定識屬初定。  見初定色。身屬(9)欲界眼屬二定色識初定。  見二定色。身屬(10)欲界眼色二定識屬初定。  如是若以三四(11)靜慮地眼。見下地色或自地色。如理應思。  (12)生初靜慮若以自地眼見自地色。四皆同(13)地。見欲界色。三屬初定色屬欲界。  若以二(14)靜慮眼見初定色。三屬初定眼屬二定。  見(15)欲界色。身識初定色屬欲界眼屬二定。  見(16)二定色。身識初定眼色二定。  如是若以三四(17)靜慮地眼。見自地色或下上色。如理應思。  (18)如是生二三四靜慮。以自他地眼。見自他(19)地色。如理應思。餘界亦應如是分別。
