Prajña/Prajñā (734–?, also written 般剌若),2 the name of Kashmiri scholiast who became an important translator of Sanskrit Buddhist texts into Chinese, his most significant accomplishment being the forty fascicle translation of the Huayan jing 華嚴經. His family name was Gautama 喬答摩. He is said to have entered the saṃgha at the age of seven, receiving full ordination at the age of twenty. At twenty-three he entered Nālanda Temple 那爛陀寺,where, under the tutelage of renowned treatise masters *Jñānagupta 智護,
