أمّا الذين أبوا تغيير رواياتهم بروایات مصرية وأصرّوا بعناد ساذج غبي على تمثيل رواياتهم المترجمة البعيدة عن ذوقنا المضادّة لمزاجنا

ʔammā ’llaḏīn^a ʔabaw taġyīr riwāyāti-him bi-riwāyāt miṣriyyaẗ wa-ʔaṣarrū bi-ʕinād sāḏiǧ ġabiyy ʕalà tamṯīl riwāyāti-him al-mutarǧamaẗ al-baʕīdaẗ ʕan ḏawqi-nā al-muḍāddaẗ li-mazāǧi-nā

[But not all of them did so.] Those, however, who refused to replace the [foreign] pieces with Egyptian ones and insisted, in stupid and naive stubbornness, [to continue] to stage foreign pieces, far removed from our taste, opposed to our mentality,¹
