Note on the transliteration:

The transliteration system of the BP/TLB is based on the Unicode/UTF-8 system. However, there may be difficulties with some of the letters – particularly on PC/Windows-based systems, but not so much on the Mac. We have chosen the most accepted older and traditional systems of transliteration against, e.g, Wylie for Tibetan, since with Unicode it is possible, in Sanskrit and Tibetan, etc., to represent one sound with one letter in almost all the cases (excepting Sanskrit and Tibetan aspirated letters, and Tibetan tsa, tsha, dza). We thus do not use the Wylie system which widely employs two letters for one sound (ng, ny, sh, zh etc.).

Important:

We ask you in particular to note the use of the ’ apostrophe and not the ' representing the avagrāha in Sanskrit, and most important the ’a-chuṅ in Tibetan. On the Mac the ’ is Alt-M.

(10)佛在室羅伐城給孤獨園。(11)時鄔陀夷披著毛緂驚恐十七眾云。神鬼來。令生恐怖。(12)由戲笑事不寂靜煩惱。制斯學處。(13)若復苾芻若自恐怖。若教人恐怖他苾芻。(14)下至戲笑者。波逸底迦。(15)下至戲笑者。雖作調弄本為惱心。此中犯者。(16)若苾芻於餘苾芻作恐怖意。(17)以可惡事令生畏惱。謂以色聲香味觸為驚怖事。告彼人曰。(18)畢舍遮等欲來殺汝。隨彼怖不解其言義。(19)便得本罪。若以可愛色聲等事。(20)謂王欲來殺害汝者。得惡作罪。(21)若於授學人及於餘人為驚惱者。得惡作罪。(22)若說地獄傍生餓鬼情存化導。彼雖生怖者無犯。(23)苾芻苾芻想有其六句。初二本罪。後四輕罪。實無怖事作無怖想。(24)亦有六句。有說設非苾芻作苾芻想。(25)亦得墮罪。
