Note on the transliteration:

The transliteration system of the BP/TLB is based on the Unicode/UTF-8 system. However, there may be difficulties with some of the letters – particularly on PC/Windows-based systems, but not so much on the Mac. We have chosen the most accepted older and traditional systems of transliteration against, e.g, Wylie for Tibetan, since with Unicode it is possible, in Sanskrit and Tibetan, etc., to represent one sound with one letter in almost all the cases (excepting Sanskrit and Tibetan aspirated letters, and Tibetan tsa, tsha, dza). We thus do not use the Wylie system which widely employs two letters for one sound (ng, ny, sh, zh etc.).

Important:

We ask you in particular to note the use of the ’ apostrophe and not the ' representing the avagrāha in Sanskrit, and most important the ’a-chuṅ in Tibetan. On the Mac the ’ is Alt-M.

(5)佛在室羅伐城給孤獨園。(6)時鄔陀夷苾芻往教射堂。自現己技作五箭法。輕忽人眾。(7)因害飛禽由傍生事。不忍無悲煩惱。制斯學處。(8)若復苾芻故斷傍生命者。波逸底迦。(9)言故者。謂作傍生想故心而殺。言傍生者。(10)謂烏禽蛇鼠等。斷命者。令彼命根身中不續。(11)此中犯者。若苾芻以自身手。若持器仗。(12)或擲餘物作殺心而打者。或當時死。或後命終。(13)皆得本罪。若不死者。得惡作罪。(14)使癲狂者行殺害時。彼雖無犯。教者本罪。(15)若遣書信若手印等。令其行殺。命斷之時。皆得惡作。(16)境想六句亦如上說。復有處說。實非傍生作傍生想。(17)亦得本罪。從心結重。若故殺彼而錯殺此。(18)得惡作罪。若無心當境者無犯。
