Note on the transliteration:

The transliteration system of the BP/TLB is based on the Unicode/UTF-8 system. However, there may be difficulties with some of the letters – particularly on PC/Windows-based systems, but not so much on the Mac. We have chosen the most accepted older and traditional systems of transliteration against, e.g, Wylie for Tibetan, since with Unicode it is possible, in Sanskrit and Tibetan, etc., to represent one sound with one letter in almost all the cases (excepting Sanskrit and Tibetan aspirated letters, and Tibetan tsa, tsha, dza). We thus do not use the Wylie system which widely employs two letters for one sound (ng, ny, sh, zh etc.).

Important:

We ask you in particular to note the use of the ’ apostrophe and not the ' representing the avagrāha in Sanskrit, and most important the ’a-chuṅ in Tibetan. On the Mac the ’ is Alt-M.

(12)佛在室羅伐城給孤獨園。(13)時鄔陀夷因十七眾不隨其命。遂便打之。(14)由結伴事不忍煩惱。制斯學處。(15)若復苾芻瞋恚故不喜打苾芻者。波逸底迦。(16)言打者。若手指彈。若腳指蹴。若[專*瓦]瓦等。(17)若以草莛打著他者。隨其所有手指多少。(18)及以芥子草莛數量。還得爾許波逸底迦。若不著者。(19)亦得爾許惡作之罪。若殺心而打。得窣吐羅。(20)言苾芻者。若持戒若破戒。(21)有苾芻相起苾芻想。或復生疑。皆得墮罪。(22)若非苾芻作苾芻想疑。或於柱壁。或於餘事作掉亂心。而打拍者。(23)咸得惡作。無犯者。不以瞋心為利益事。
