FOGDEN.
Vil ingen anden, så vil jeg.
I helgen skal, jo før jo heller,
jeg ordne alt, hvad formen gælder,
og sætte sagen glat ivej.
Jeg ivre skal og virke, skrive;
jo, jo, – De kender fogden nok!
og kan jeg hjælp ej sammendrive
til rivning blandt den dumme flok,
skal jeg med egne hænder rive
den ned til grunden, stok for stok.
Ja, om jeg så skal ta’e min kone
og alle mine døttre med,
så skal den død og plage ned!

I will it though they all cry No.
This Christmas with the least delay

Hei, werd’ ich eifern, wiegeln, schreiben; –
Allein, Sie kennen mich ja, – Schnack!
Und kann ich aus dem dummen Pack
Nicht Hilfe gnug zusammentreiben,
So greif’ ich selbst zu Axt und Hack’,
Ihn Stock- um Stockwerk zu entleiben.
Und müßten meine eigne Frau
Und eignen Töchter auf den Fleck,
Er soll, bei Tod und Teufel, weg!
