AGNES.
Røvet, røvet, – alting røvet, –
sidste bånd, som bandt til støvet!
(står en stund ubevægelig stille; lidt efter lidt går udtrykket i hendes ansigt over til høj strålende glæde. Brand kommer tilbage; hun flyver ham jublende imøde, kaster sig om hans hals og råber):
Jeg er fri! Brand, jeg er fri!
AGNES.
Shiver’d, shatter’d-pluck’d away—
All that bound me to the clay.
[Stands a while motionless; by degrees her face assumes an expression of radiant gladness. BRAND returns; she flies joyously towards him, flings herself about his neck, and cries.]
I am free, Brand, I am free!
AGNES.
Selbst dies letzte Band, das mich
Noch am Staub hielt, – er zerreißt es!
(Steht eine Weile unbeweglich; nach und nach geht der Ausdruck ihres Antlitzes in hell strahlende Freude über. BRAND kommt zurück; sie fliegt ihm jubelnd entgegen, wirft sich ihm an die Brust und ruft:)
Ich bin frei! Brand, ich bin frei!
