1. This sentence (from “puis que diex...ˮ) does not correspond to any part of Boethius' text. In fact it replaces a Greek quote: “But it is grievous that I should talk of all this as if I were a godˮ. This is a variant of Iliad, xii, 176: Ἀργαλέον δέ με ταῦτα θεὸν ὣς πάντ' ἀγορεῦσαι. The quote is omitted by Jean.
