1. The last part of the preceeding text (from “si que elle cognoisse…” up till and including this final “Non” is added by Jean. We believe it is reasonable to suppose that this “Non” ends the “hypothetical conversation” in Jean’s version (see the preceding note) and that the two last word in Jean’s “Non Certes non” (i.e. what immediately follows this note) is the beginning of a part of the text in which the hypothetical-conversation form is abandoned by Jean also.
