لأنّ الفنّ في عرفنا هو القدرة على إيجاد إحساس راقٍ قوي ، يتسرّب بلذّة مُثْمِلة خلّابة إلى قلوبنا ويمتلك علينا نفوسنا فيهذّبها ،

li-ʔanna ’l-fann fī ʕurfi-nā huwa ’l-qudraẗ ʕalà ʔīǧād ʔiḥsās rāqⁱⁿ qawiyyⁱⁿ, yatasarrab^u bi-laḏḏaẗ muṯmilaẗ ḫallābaẗ ʔilà qulūbi-nā wa-yamtalik^u ʕalay-nā nufūsa-nā fa-yuhaḏḏibu-hā,

For art, as we understand it, is the ability to arouse [in us] a strong and noble feeling that we enjoy feeling creep into us, producing in our hearts a drunk, capturing pleasure. It takes control over us and refines our morals / makes us civilized.
