Immram Brain (IB) er bevart helt eller delvis i åtte håndskrifter. Med ett unntak kan disse trolig føres tilbake til et felles tapt manuskript. Håndskriftet som er unntatt ble kalt Lebor na hUidre (LU) og ble til en gang på 1100-tallet e. Kr. Dette inneholder de eldste bevarte deler av IB, men er yngre enn håndskriftet som de andre vitnene bygger på.Det viktigste håndskriftet til etableringen av teksten i utgaven(e) har således vært Rawlinson B 512 fra perioden 1300-1400.
