Various pieces of this instrument collection are highly interesting. In this gallery, to which I was kindly given acess by one of your inspectors, I notd a fine specimen of Hardanger fiddle ("Hardanger-fele"), an instrument developed in parts of Southern Norway, ma inly in the West coast. The label said: " Knudt Eriksen Holland 1872" DANISH I have a suspition that the name may be misspelt for "Helland" - a well known family of makers - and I certainly would like to suggest that the origin be changed to NORWEGIAN! I feel sure that you will forgive this little bit of ("patriotic!) comment on my part and I remain, woth best wishes for your Collection, Yours sincerely Fridtjov Isachsen Professor (not of Music!)
