Quamvis fluente dives auri gurgite

Quamuis auarus diues fluente gurgite auri . cogat non expleturas opes.
Tóh ter frécho mán . sámo rîche uuórtenêr . sámo-so ímo zûo-rínne daz cóld . sînen scáz tés ímo nîomêr fóllûn nedúnchet . kehûfoe.  
Ja soit ce que li liches avers a tout un gort decorant d’or amoncelle richeces qui ja ne li acompliront sa couvoitise, 
Al were it so that a riche coveytous man hadde a river fletinge al of gold, yit sholde it never staunchen his coveitise ; 
Thogh riche man with flowing golden qolfe
Couetous hepes not rechis that Suffice 
Oneretque bacis colla rubri litoris

ja la cure mordans et angoisseuse ne le laissera tant comme il soit vis, ne les fuitives richecez ne li feront pas compaingnie quant il sera mort. 
never ne shal his bytinge bisinesse for-leten him whyl he liveth , ne the lighte richesses ne sholle nat beren him companye whan he is ded. 
Yet Eating Care leves not him quicke,
