Pragapati brooded over the worlds, and from them thus brooded on he squeezed out the essences, Agni (fire) from the earth, Vayu (air) from the sky, Aditya (the sun) from heaven.

A.D.atra brahmaṇo maunaṃ vihitaṃ tadreṣe brahmatvakarmaṇi cānyasmiṃśca hotrādikarmareṣe vyāhṛtihomaḥ prāyaścittamiti tadarthaṃ vyāhṛtayo vidhātavyā ityāha-prajāpatirlokānabhyatapallokānuddiśya tatra sārajighṛkṣayā dhyānalakṣaṇaṃ tapaścacāra | teṣāṃ tapyamānānāṃ lokānāṃ rasānsārarūpānprāvṛhaduddhṛtavāñjagrāhetyarthaḥ | kān | agniṃ rasaṃ pṛthivyāḥ | vāyumantarikṣāt | ādityaṃ divaḥ || 1 ||
