Rolland2015_BRǦ too thinks that almost all values to be found in the root ↗BRǦ (even ↗burǧ ‘tower’) go back to one original meaning. But he thinks this was *‘to deal a blow’ (porter un coup); in Rolland’s view, ‘to appear’, like also five other main values (see DISC in entry ↗BRǦ), is secondary.
