Sva ſegir Þióðólfr (10)
Svá segir Þjóðólfr:

So segjer Tjodolv:
Saa siger Tjodolv:
Thus says Tjodolv:
Þat fra hyʀ (11)
at Halfdanar (12)

Oc ſcæreið (19)

27. Pat frá hverr,
at Halfdanar
sǫkmiðlendr
sakna skyldu,
ok hallvarps
hlífinauma
þjóðkonung
á Þótni tók.
Ok Skereið
í Skíringssal
of brynjalfs
beinum drúpir.

De hev alle høyrt gjeti,
at gjæve menn
skulde Halvdan
sakna faa,
og den løynske
Loke-dotter
paa Toten hæve
hovdingen tok,
og Skæreid
i Skiringssal
i sorg yvi beini
aat den brynju-klædde luter.
Det hver hørte,
at over Halvdan
tingbønderne
taarer fældte,
da dødens
dræbende mø
tjodkongen
tog paa Toten.
Og Skæreid
i Skiringsal
over brynje-heltens
ben luder. (43)
Everyone heard
That over Halvdan
The bonders
Shed tears,
When the slaying maid,
The hand of death,
In Tote took
The folk-king.
And Skræreid
In Skiringsal
Enclosed the bones
Of the armoured prince. (33)
