| Notes | I first discovered the work in its French translation, in which E. Granström, is presented as the author. By reading it I discovered that the text is a translation of the Swedish author Mellin’s Öjungfrun from 1832, with some alterations. The alterations are an insertion of the story of the Krakatau volcano and a slightly different end. The Statsbliothek in Berlin catalogues two copies of a work by E.A Granstrem, that must be the link betwen the Swedish and the French editions. Due to the alterations, and the ascription of Granström as author, I have considered the Swedish and the Russian/French works as different works, not only as editions of the same work. |
