tasmai sa hovāca |
prajākāmo vai prajāpatiḥ |
sa tapo ’tapyata | sa tapas taptvā
sa mithunam utpādayate
rayiṃ ca
prāṇaṃ ceti |
etau me bahudhāḥ prajāḥ kariṣyata iti ||
پپّلاد گفت
پرجاپات كه پيدا كننده همه است خواست كه پيدائش بكند
بعد از آن رياضت كشيده يعنى بدل مشغول شده و فكر كرده
دو چيز پيدا كرد
يكى سوم كه ماه است و آب حيات در اوست
دوم پران كه آفتاب است وآتش در اوست
اين هر دو را پيدا كرده دانست كه از اين هر دو همه پيدائش خواهد شد و اين دو پيدائش را بسيار خواهند كرد
Pilad dixit: Pradjapat, quòd principium faciens est, vouluit quòd productionem faciat (faceret).
Post ab illo (posteà), mortificationem cùm traxisset, id est, in corde maschghoul factus, et cogitationem ut fecit,
duas res productas fecit;
unam, soum, quòd luna est, et abhiat (aqua vitæ) in eâ est;
secundam, pran, quòd aftab (sol) et atesch (ignis) in eo est.
Hæc ambo ut producta fecit, scivit, quòd, ex his duobus omnes productiones sunt futuræ. Et has duas productiones multùm comedere fecit.
4. He replied:
“Pragapati (the lord of creatures) was desirous of creatures (pragah).
He performed penance, and having performed penance,
he produces a pair,
matter (rayi)
and spirit (prana),
thinking that they together should produce creatures for him in many ways.
tasmā evaṃ pṛṣṭavate sa hovāca tadapākaraṇāyāha | prajākāmaḥ prajā ātmanaḥ sisṛkṣur vai prajāpatiḥ sarvātmā sajjagat srakṣyāmi ity
evaṃ vijñānavān yathoktakārī tadbhāvabhāvitaḥ kalpādau nivṛtto hiraṇyagarbhaḥ sṛjyamānānāṃ prajānāṃ sthāvarajaṅgamānāṃ patiḥ sajjanmāntarabhāvitaṃ jñānaṃ śrutiprakāśitārthaviṣayaṃ tapo ’nvālocayad atapyata / ata tu sa evaṃ tapas taptvā śrautaṃ jñānam anvālocya
sṛṣṭisādhanabhūtaṃ mithunam utpādayate mithunaṃ dvandvam utpāditavān | rayiṃ ca somam annaṃ praṇaṃ cāgnimattāram etāv agniṣomāv attrannabhūtau me mama bahudhānekadhā prajāḥ kariṣyata ity evaṃ saṃcintyāṇḍotpattikrameṇa sūryācandramasāvakalpayat ||4||
