Note on the transliteration:
The transliteration system of the BP/TLB is based on the Unicode/UTF-8 system. However, there may be difficulties with some of the letters – particularly on PC/Windows-based systems, but not so much on the Mac. We have chosen the most accepted older and traditional systems of transliteration against, e.g, Wylie for Tibetan, since with Unicode it is possible, in Sanskrit and Tibetan, etc., to represent one sound with one letter in almost all the cases (excepting Sanskrit and Tibetan aspirated letters, and Tibetan tsa, tsha, dza). We thus do not use the Wylie system which widely employs two letters for one sound (ng, ny, sh, zh etc.).
 
Important:
We ask you in particular to note the use of the ’ apostrophe and not the ' representing the avagrāha in Sanskrit, and most important the ’a-chuṅ in Tibetan. On the Mac the ’ is Alt-M.

ji ca ma na zla ba dgu ’das pa daṅ amra skyoṅ ma la khye’u (6) gzugs gzaṅ la mdzes pa bltan sdug pa źig btsas so || btsas nas źes khya ba nas bsriṅs bskyed de chen por gyur to źes bya ba’i bar du’o || 
sa vaiśālakair licchavidārakaiḥ sārdhaṃ krīḍaṃs tair apriyam uktaḥ | bhavanto ’sya dāsīputrasya kaḥ pitā | anekaśatasahasranirjāto ’yam iti | 
de yaṅs pa can pa’i litstsha bī’i khye’u rnams daṅ lhan cig rtse bar byed pa las | de rnams kyis me dga’ ba’i tshig gis smras pa | bran mo’i (7) bu khyod brgya stoṅ phrag du ma źig las ni skyes na pha su yin | 
sa prarudan mātuḥ sakāśam upasaṃkrāntas tayocyate | putra kim arthaṃ rodiṣīti | tena sarvaṃ vistareṇa samākhyātam |

sā kathayati | putra yadi bhūyaḥ pṛcchanti vaktyavyās tādṛśo mama pitā yo yuṣmākam ekasyāpi nāstīti | yadi kathayanti | katara iti | vaktavyā rājā bimbisāra (22) iti |

sā caivaṃ cintāparā | saṃbahulāś ca vaṇijaḥ paṇyam ādāya rājagṛhaṃ saṃprasthitāḥ | tayā ta upalabdhā uktāś ca anenāṅgulimudreṇa bhāṇḍaṃ mudrayitvā gacchata | aśulkā gamiṣyatha |  etaṃ ca dārakaṃ rājagṛhaṃ nayata | etad aṅgulimudrakaṃ grīvāyāṃ baddhā rājakuladvāre sthāpayiṣyatha | taiḥ pratijñātam | evaṃ bhavatv iti |

putro ’pi muktāhāraṃ datvābhihitaḥ | putra tvayā rājño ’rthādhikaraṇe niṣaṇṇasya muktāhāraṃ pādayoḥ sthāpayitvābhiruhyotsaṅge niṣattavyam |  yadi kaścit kathayati nāyaṃ dārako bibhetīti | sa vaktavyaḥ | asti kaścit putraḥ pitur bibhetīti | 
bu la yaṅ mu tig gi ṅo śal cig byin nas smras pa | bu rgyal po dgos pa’i ched du ’dus dag mu tig gi do śal daṅ (5) ba’i sdeṅ du źog la ’dzegs te paṅ du ’dug śig |  gal te ’ga’ źig khye’u ’di ’jigs mi śes pa źig go źes smra daṅ de la yaṅ bu phas ’jigs pa ’ga’ yod dam źes smros śig | 
sa vaṇigbhiḥ sārdham anupūrveṇa rājagṛhaṃ gataḥ |  taiḥ snapayitvāṅgulimudrakeṇālaṃkṛtya rājadvāre sthāpitaḥ |  sa yena rājā tenopasaṃkrāntaḥ | upasaṃkramya muktāhāraṃ pādayoḥ sthāpayitvotsaṅgam abhiniṣaṇṇaḥ | 
de tshod pa rnams daṅ lhan cig tu rim gyis rgyal po’i khab tu phyin nas tu phyin nas |  de rnams kyis khrus (6) byas te sor gdub kyi rgya btags nas rgyal po’i pho braṅ gi sgor bźag pa daṅ |  de rgyal pos gaṅ na ba der soṅ ste phyin nas mu tig gi do śal rkaṅ pa la bźag nas ’dzegs te paṅ du ’dug go || 
rājā kathayati | bhavanto nāyaṃ dārako bibhetīti |  sa kathayati | tāta asti kaścit putraḥ pitur bibhetīti | 
rgyal pos smras pa | śes ldan dag khye’u ’di ni ’jigs mi śes pa źig go ||  des (7) smras pa | yab bu phas ’jigs pa ’ga’ mchis lags sam | 
tato rājñābhayaśabdena samudācarita iti | abhayo rājakumāro ’bhayo rājakumāra iti saṃjñā saṃvṛttā |
