[72] Having heard from him that very wonderful, unlimited and inconceivable greatness of the meritorious act, many hundreds of thousands of crores of beings, even those who were averse to the teaching of the Fortunate One, their thoughts overcome by the surge of extreme faith, according to their wishes gave alms, performed acts of merit and made vows.
Then, the venerable Suvarṇavarṇa, having thus in many ways declared to that great mass of people the greatness of the act of merit in order to produce respect for acts of merit,
