▪ Morphologically a PA, from qāwala, vb. III, in the meaning [v4] ‘to make a contract’, L-stem of ↗qāla ‘to say’ or denom. from ↗qawl ‘word, saying, utterance’, associative (*‘to exchange words, converse’).
