Note on the transliteration:
The transliteration system of the BP/TLB is based on the Unicode/UTF-8 system. However, there may be difficulties with some of the letters – particularly on PC/Windows-based systems, but not so much on the Mac. We have chosen the most accepted older and traditional systems of transliteration against, e.g, Wylie for Tibetan, since with Unicode it is possible, in Sanskrit and Tibetan, etc., to represent one sound with one letter in almost all the cases (excepting Sanskrit and Tibetan aspirated letters, and Tibetan tsa, tsha, dza). We thus do not use the Wylie system which widely employs two letters for one sound (ng, ny, sh, zh etc.).
 
Important:
We ask you in particular to note the use of the ’ apostrophe and not the ' representing the avagrāha in Sanskrit, and most important the ’a-chuṅ in Tibetan. On the Mac the ’ is Alt-M.

uktaṃ yathā prahāṇaṃ parijñākhyāṃ labhate | tad api ca 
如是已說煩惱等斷於九勝位得遍知名。然斷必由道力故得,此所由道其相云何?頌曰: 
 
kleśaprahāṇamākhyātaṃ satyadarśanabhāvanāt | 
已說煩惱斷,由見諦修故,
見道唯無漏,修道通二種。
 
 
darśanaheyā bhāvanāheyāś ca kleśā iti vistareṇākhyātam |  tāv idānīṃ darśanabhāvanāmārgau kim anāsravau sāsravāv iti vaktavyam |  ata idam ucyate 
論曰:前已廣說諸煩惱斷,由見諦道及修道故。  道唯無漏亦有漏耶? 
     
dvividho bhāvanāmārgo darśanakhyastvanāsravaḥ || 6.1 || 
[見道唯無漏,修道通二種。] 
 
dvidho bhavanāmārgo laukikok lokottaraś ca |  darśanamārgas tu lokottara eva traidhātukapratipakṣatvāt |  navaprakārāṇāṃ darśana heyānāṃ sakṛtprahāṇāc ca |  na hi laukikasya eṣā śaktir asti | 
見道應知唯是無漏,修道通二。所以者何?見道速能治三界故。  頓斷九品見所斷故,  非世間道有此堪能, 
       
satyadarśanādity uktam | kānīmāni satyāni kati ca | 
故見位中道唯無漏。修道有異故通二種,如向所言由見諦故。此所見諦其相云何?頌曰: 
 
satyānyuktāni catvāri 
諦四先已說,謂苦集滅道,
彼自體亦然,次第隨現觀。
 
 
kvoktāni | sāsravānāsravadharmanirdeśe |  “anāsravā mārgasatyam” iti svaśabdena “pratisaṃkhyānirodho yo visaṃyoga” iti nirodhasatyaṃ “duḥkhaṃ samudayo loka” ity atra duḥkhasamudayasatye |  kim eṣa evaiṣām anukramaḥ | nety āha | kiṃ tarhi | 
論曰:諦有四種,名先已說。於何處說?謂初品中分別有漏無漏法處。  彼如何說?謂彼頌言:無漏謂聖道,此說道諦。擇滅謂離繫,此說滅諦。及苦集世間,此說苦集諦。  此說苦集諦。四諦次第如彼說耶?不爾。云何? 
     
duḥkhaṃ samudayas tathā |
nirodhamārga iti
 
[謂苦集滅道] 
 
eṣa eṣām anukramaḥ | svabhāvas tu yathā pūrvam uktas tayaivetipradarśanārthas tathāśabdaḥ |  sa punar ayam 
如先所辯,為顯體同彼,故說亦然聲。 
   
eṣāṃ yathā ’bhisamayaṃ kramaḥ || 6.2 || 
[彼自體亦然,次第隨現觀。] 
 
yasya hi satyasyābhisamayaḥ pūrvasya pūrvanirdeśaḥ |  itarathā hi pūrvaṃ hetunirdeśo ’bhaviṣyat paścāt phalanirdeśaḥ |  keṣāñcidutpattyanukūlā deśanāḥ |  yathā smṛtyupasthānadhyānādīnām |  deṣāñcitprarūpaṇānukūlā deśanā yathā samyak prahāṇānām |  na hy eṣa niyamo yat pūrvamutpannānāṃ prahāṇāya cchandaṃ janayati |  paścād anutpannānām anutpādāyeti |  satyānāṃ tvabhisamayānukūlā deśanā |  kiṃ punaḥ kāraṇam evameṣāṃ satyānām abhisamayaḥ |  yatra hi satto yena ca vādhyate yataś ca mokṣaṃ prarthayate tadevādau vyavacāraṇāvasthāyāṃ duḥkhasatyaṃ parīkṣyate |  paścāt ko ’sya hetur iti samudayasatyaṃ ko ’sya nirodha iti nirodhasatyaṃ ko ’sya mārga iti mārgasatyam |  vyādhiṃ dṛṣṭvā tannidānakṣayameṣajānveṣāṇavat |  sūtre ’pyeṣa eva satyānāṃ dṛṣṭānto darśitaḥ |  katamasmin sūtre | “caturbhir aṅgaiḥ samanvāgato bhiṣaktalpasarttety atra |  yathā ca vyavacāraṇāvasthāyāṃ satyaparīkṣā tathābhisamayāvasthāyāṃ satyābhisamayaḥ |  pūrvavedhāt |  dṛṣṭabhūminiḥsaṃgāśvadhāvanavat | abhisamaya iti ko ’rthaḥ |  abhisaṃbodha iṇo bodhanārthatvāt |  karamādanāsrava eva na sāsravaḥ | sa hi nirvāṇābhimukhaḥ samyakbodhaḥ |  samyag iti tattvena | tatra phalabhūtā upādānaskandhā duḥkhasatyam |  hetubhūtāḥ samudayasatyam | samudetyasmāditi kṛtvā |  ata eva tayoḥ phalahetubhāvānnāmato bhedo na dravyataḥ |  nirodhamārgayostu dravyato ’pi |  āryasatyānīti sūtra ucyante |  ko ’syārthaḥ |  āryāṇā metāni satyāni tasmād āryasatyānīti sūtra evoktam |  kim anyeṣām etāni mṛṣā | sarveṣām etāni satyānyaviparītatvāt |  āryais tu yathaitāni tathā dṛṣṭāni nānyaiḥ |  ata āryāṇām etāni satyāny ucyante na tvanāryāṇāṃ vīparītadarśanāt | 
                                                         
“yad āryāḥ sukhataḥ prāhustat pare duḥkhato biduḥ |
yatpare sukhatḥ prāhustadāryā duḥkhato biduḥ ||” 
 
iti gāthā | dve āryāṇāṃ satye dve ārye cāryāṇāṃ ca satye ity apare |  yathā vedanaikadeśo duḥkhasvabhāvaḥ |  kathaṃ sarve sāsravāḥ saṃskārā duḥkhamityucyante | 
     
duḥkhāstriduḥkhatāyogādyathāyogamaśeṣataḥ |
manāṣā amanāpāś ca tadanye caiva sāsravāḥ
|| 6.3 || 
 
tisro hi duḥkhatā duḥkhaduḥkhatā saṃskāraduḥkhatā vipariṇāmaduḥkhatā ca |  tābhir yathāyogamaśeṣataḥ sarva sāsravāḥ saṃskārā duḥkhāḥ |  tatra manāṣā vipariṇāmaduḥkhatayā |  amanāṣā duḥkhaduḥkhatayā | tebhyo ’nye saṃskāraduḥkhatayā |  ke punar manāpāḥ ke ’manāṣāḥ ke knobhayathā |  tisro vedanā yathākramaṃ tadvaśena sukhavedanīyādayo ’pi saṃskārā manāpādisaṃjñāṃ labhante |  sukhāyā hi vedanāyā vipariṇāmena duḥkhatā |  sūtra uktaṃ “sukhā vedanā utpādamukhā sthitisukhā vipariṇāmaduḥkham” iti |  duḥkhāyāḥ duḥkhasvabhāvenaiva duḥkhatā |  “duḥkhā vedanā utpādaduḥkhā sthitiduḥkhā” iti sūtre |  aduḥkhāsukhāvedanāyāḥ saṃskāreṇaiva duḥkhatā |  “pratyayābhisaṃskaraṇādyadanityaṃ tadduḥkham” iti |  vedanāvattadvedanīyā api saṃskārā ucyante |  duḥkhameva duḥkhatā duḥkhaduḥkhatā | evaṃ yāvat saṃskārā eva duḥkhatetyapare |  asādhāraṇatvāt manāṣā ’manāpānāṃ vipariṇāmaduḥkhaduḥkhate ukte |  sarve tusaṃskārāḥ saṃskāraduḥkhatayā duḥkhāḥ |  tāṃstvāryā eva paśyanti || āha cātra | 
                                 
“ūrṇāpakṣma yathaiva hi karatalasaṃsthaṃ na vedyate pumbhiḥ
akṣigataṃ tu tathaiva hi janayatyaratiṃ ca pīḍaṃ ca |
karatalasadṛśo bālo na vetti saṃskāraduḥkhatāpakṣma
akṣisadṛśastu vidvāṃs tenaivodvijyate gāḍham iti” || 
 
na hi bālānām āvīcikeṣv api skandheṣu tathā duḥkhabuddhiḥ pravartate yathāryāṇāṃ bhāvāgrikeṣv apīti |  evaṃ tarhi mārgasyāpi saṃskāraduḥkhatāprasaṅgaḥ |  saṃskṛtatvāt | pratikūlaṃ hi duḥkham iti lakṣaṇānna mārgo duḥkham |  na hi tasyotpāda āryāṇāṃ pratikūlaḥ sarvaduḥkhakṣayāvāhanāt |  yadāpi te nirvāṇaṃ śāntataḥ paśyanti tadāpi yadeva duḥkhato dṛṣṭaṃ tasyaiva nirodhaṃ śāntataḥ paśyantina mārgasya |  yadāpi duḥkhamapyatrāsti tasmāt duḥkhamevāryasatyam ucyate |  sukhasyālpatvāt mūdgādibhāve ’pi māṣarāśyapadeśavad ity eke |  ko hi vidvān pariṣekasukhāṇukena gaṇḍasukham iti vyavasyet |  āha khalv api 
                 
“duḥkhasya ca hetutvāt duḥkhaiścānalpakaiḥ samuditatvāt |
duḥkhe ca sati tadiṣṭerduḥkhaṃ sukham iti vyavasyanti” iti || 
 
sahaiva tu sukhena sarvaṃ bhavam āryā duḥkhataḥ paśyanti | saṃskāraduḥkhataikarasatvāt |  ato duḥkhamevāryāsatyaṃ vyavasthāpyate na sukham |  katham idānīṃ sukhasvabhāvāṃ vedanāṃ duḥkhataḥ paśyanti |  anityatayā pratikūlatvāt | yathā rūpasaṃjñādīny api duḥkhataḥ paśyanti |  na catānyevaṃ duḥkhāni yathā duḥkhavedaneti | yas tu manyate duḥkhahetutvāditi |  tasyāsau samudayākāraḥ syānna duḥkhakāraḥ |  āryāṇāṃ carūpārupyopapattau kathaṃ duḥkhasaṃjñā pravarteta |  na hi punas teṣāṃ duḥkhavedanāhetuḥ skandhā bhavanti |  saṃskāraduḥkhatā ca sūtre kimarthaṃ pṛthaguktā bhavet |  yadi tarhy anityatvāt duḥkhataḥpaśyanti |  anityaduḥkhākārayoḥ kaḥ prativiśeṣaḥ |  udayavyayadharmitvādanityaṃ paśyanti |  pratikūlatvāt duḥkham |  anityaṃ tu dṛśyamānaṃ pratikūlaṃ bhavatītyanityākāro duḥkhākāramākarṣati |  nāsty eva sukha vedanetyekīyā duḥkhaiva tu sarvā |  katham idaṃ gamyate | sūtrādyuktitaś ca | kathaṃ tāvat sūtrāt |  uktaṃ hi bhagavatā “yatkiñcidveditamidam atra duḥkhasyeti” |  “duḥkhā vedanā duḥkhato draṣṭavyeti” |  “duḥkhe sukham iti saṃjñāviparyāsa” iti | evaṃ tāvat sūtrāt | kathaṃ yuktitaḥ |  sukhahetvavyavasthānāt |  ya eva hi kecitpānabhojanaśītoṣṇādaya iṣyante sukhahetavasta evātyupayuktā akālopayuktāś ca punar duḥkhahetavaḥ saṃpadyante |  na ca yuktā sukhahetubṛddhacyā samena vā ’nyasminkāle duḥkhotpattir ity ādita eva te duḥkhahetavo na sukhasya |  ante tu tadduḥkhaṃ vṛddhimāpannaṃ vyaktimāpadyata iti |  evam īryāpathavikalpe ’pi vaktavyam |  duḥkhapratikāre ca sukhabuddherduḥkhavikalpe ca |  na hi tāvat sukham iti vedyate kiñcidyāvanna duḥkhāntareṇopadruto bhavati kṣutpipāsāśītoṣṇaśramakāmarāgaprabhaveṇa |  tasmāt pratīkāra evāviduṣāṃ sukhabuddhirnasukhe duḥkhavikalpe ca vālaḥ sukhabuddhimutpādaynti yathāṃśādaṃśaṃ bhāraṃ saṃcārayantaḥ |  tasmānnāstyeva sukham iti | astyevetyābhivārmikāḥ | eṣa eva canyāyaḥ |  kathaṃ kṛtvā |  idaṃ hi tāvad ayaṃ praṣṭavyaḥ sukhāpavādī | kim idaṃ duḥkhaṃ nāma |  yad vādhanātmakaṃ cet |  katham iti vaktavyam | upaghātakaṃ cet | anugrāhakaṃ sukham iti siddham |  anabhipretaṃ cet |  abhipretaṃ sukham iti siddham |  tadeva hy abhipretaṃ punar anabhipretaṃ bhavaty āryāṇāṃ naivālpakāle |  tasmād aniṣpanam abhipretatvaṃ cet | na | anyathā ’nabhipretatvāt |  yā hi vedanā svena lakṣaṇenābhipretā nāsau punas tenaiva jātv anabhipretā bhavati |  tathā hy enām ākārāntareṇa vidūṣayanty āryāḥ pramādapadaṃ caināṃ paśyanti mahābhisaṃskārasādhyāṃ ca vipariṇāminīṃ cānityāṃ cayenānabhipretā bhavati |  na tu khalu svalakṣaṇākāreṇa |  yadi cāsau svenātmanānabhipretā bhavennaiva tasyāṃ kasyacidrāgo bhavedyato vairāgyārthaṃ prakārāntareṇāpi doṣavatīṃ paśyeyuḥ |  tasmād asty eva svalakṣaṇataḥ sukha vedanā ||  yattu bhagavatoktaṃ “yatkiñcid veditam idam atra duḥkhasyeti” tadbhagavataiva nītārthaṃ “saṃskārānityatām ānanda mayā saṃghāya bhāṣitaṃ saṃskāravipariṇāmatāṃ ca yatkiñcid veditam idam atra duḥkhasyeti” |  ato na duḥkha-dukhatāṃ saṃdhāyaitad uktam iti siddhaṃ bhavati |  yadi ca svabhāvata eva sarvaṃ veditavyaṃ duḥkhamabhaviṣyatkimarthamāryānanda evaṃ bhagavantam aprakṣyat |  tisra ime vedanā uktā bhagavatā sukhā duḥkhā ’duḥkhāsukhā ca |  uktaṃ cedaṃ bhagavatā “yatkiñcidveditamidam atra duḥkhasyeti” |  kiṃ nu saṃdhāya bhagavatā bhāṣitam yatkiñcidveditamidam atra duḥkhasyeti |  evaṃ hi so ’prakṣyat kiṃ nu saṃdhāya bhāṣitaṃ tisro vedanā iti |  bhagavān aṣy eva vyākariṣyat |  idaṃ mayā saṃdhāya bhāṣitaṃ tisro vedanā iti |  na tvevamāha | tasmāt santy eva svabhāvatas tisro vedanāḥ |  idaṃ tu saṃdhāya mayā bhāṣitaṃ yatkimcid veditam idam atra duḥkhasyety ābhīprāyikam etad vākyaṃ darśayati |  yadaṣyuktaṃ “sukhā vedanā duḥkheti draṣṭavyeti” | ubhayaṃ tasyāmasti |  sukhatvaṃ ca svabhāvatomanāpatvād duḥkhatvaṃ ca paryāyato vipariṇāmānityadharmatvāt |  sā tu sukhato dṛśyamānā bandhāya kalpate tadāsvādanāt |  duḥkhato dṛśyamānā mokṣāya kalpate |  tadvairāgyāditi |  yathā dṛśyamānā mokṣāya kalpate tathaināṃ draṣṭum ājñāpayanti buddhāḥ |  katham idaṃ gamyate svabhāvataḥ sā sukheti | yad āha 
                                                                                                                     
saṃskārānityatāṃ jñātvā atho vipariṇāmatām |
vedanā duḥkhataḥ proktā saṃbuddhena prajānaneti” || 
 
yad api coktaṃ “duḥkhe sukham iti saṃjñāviparyāsa” iti | ābhiprāyika eṣa nirdeśaḥ |  lokasya hi sukhasaṃjñā vedanāyāṃ kāmaguṇeṣūpapattau ca |  tatra sūkhaṃ vedanāṃ paryāyeṇa duḥkhaṃ satīmekāntasukhāṃ paśyato viparyāsaḥ |  evam upapattim | 
       
tasmān nātaḥ sukhavedanā ’bhāvasiddhiḥ |  yadi tu svabhāvata eva sarvaṃ veditaṃ duḥkham abhaviṣyat tisro vedanā iti vacane koguṇo ’bhaviṣyat |  lokānuvṛttyeti cet na |  sarvaveditaduḥkhatvasya saṃskāravipariṇāmānityatāṃ saṃdhāya bhāṣitavacanāt yathābhūtavacanāc ca |  “yacca sukhendriyaṃ yac ca saumanasyendriyaṃ sukhaiṣā vedanā draṣṭavye” ti vistareṇoktvā “yenemāni pañcendriyāṇyevaṃ yathābhūtaṃ samyak prajñayā dṛṣṭāni trīṇi cāsya saṃyojanāni prahīṇāni bhavantī” tyevamādi |  loko ’pi ca kathaṃ duḥkhāṃ vedanāṃ trividhāṃ vyavasyet |  mṛdvadhimātramadhyāsu yathākramaṃ sukhādibuddhir iti cet | na |  sukhasyāpi trividhatvāt mṛdvādiṣu duḥkheṣv adhimātrā disukhabuddhiḥ syāt |  yadā ca gandharasaspraṣṭavyaviśeṣajaṃ sukhaṃ vedayate tadā katamat duḥkhaṃ mṛdubhūtaṃ yatrāsya sukhabuddhirbhavati |  anutpannavinaṣṭe ca tasmin mṛduni duḥkhe sutarāṃ sukabuddhiḥ syāt |  aśeṣaduḥkhāpagamāt | evaṃ kāmasukhasaṃmukhībhāve ’pi vaktavyam |  kathaṃ ca nāmedaṃ yojyate yan mṛdunivedite suvyaktas tīvro ’nubhavo gṛhyate madhye punar avyakta iti |  triṣu ca dhyāneṣu sukhavacanāt mṛdu duḥkhaṃ syāt |  ūrdhvamaduḥkhasukhavacanānmadhyaṃ duḥkham iti na yujyate mṛdvādiṣu duḥkheṣu duḥkheṣu sukhādivedanāvyavasthānam |  uktaṃ ca bhagavatā “rūpaṃ cen mahānāmann ekāntaduḥkham abhaviṣyan na sukhaṃ na sukhānugatam” ity evamādi |  tasmād apy asti kiñcitsukham |  evaṃ tāvanna sūtrātsukhavedanā ’bhāvaḥ sidhyati |  yatpunaḥ sukhahetvavyavasthānādity uktam | hetvaparijñānādidam ucyate |  āśrayaviśeṣāpekṣo hi viṣayaḥ sukhaheturvā bhavati duḥkhahetur vā | na kevalo viṣayaḥ |  sa yāṃ kāmavasthāṃ prāpya sukhahetur bhavati na tāṃ punaḥ prāpya kadācin na bhavatīti vyavasthita eva sukhahetuḥ |  tadyathā sa evāgniḥ pākyabhūtaviśeṣāpekṣaḥ svādupākahetur bhavati sa evāsvādapākahetuḥ na tu yāṃ pākyabhūtāvasthāṃ prāpya svadupākahetustāṃ punaḥ prāpya na hetur ity eṣa dṛṣṭāntaḥ |  dhyāneṣu ca kathaṃ na vyavasthitaḥ sukhahetuḥ |  yattu punaḥ duḥkhapratikāre sukhabuddhir ity uktaṃ tatra vihitaḥ pratīkāraḥ |  yadā gandhādiviśeṣajaṃ sukhaṃ vedayate tadā kasya pratīkāreṣu sukhabuddhirbhavatyanutpannavinaṣṭe ca tasmin duḥkhe sutarāṃ sukhabuddhiḥ syāt |  dhyānaje sukhe kaḥ kasya pratīkāra ity evam ādi |  bhāvasaṃcāre ’pi cāvasthāntarajaṃ sukhamevotpadyate |  yāvad asau tādṛśī kāyāvasthā ’ntarghīyate |  anyathā hi paścād bhūyasī sukhabuddhiḥ syāt |  evaṃ śrāntasyeryāpathavikalpeṣu veditavyam |  “ante kuto duḥkhabuddhirārambho yadi nādita” iti  cet | kāyapariṇāmaviśeṣān madyādīnām ante mādhuryaśukta tāvat |  tasmād asty eva sukhā vedaneti siddham |  triduḥkhatāyogādvā sarvaṃ sāsravaṃ duḥkham iti |  yattu samudayasatyaṃ tadevocyate |  idamutsūtram sūtre hi tṛṣṇaivoktā | pradhānyādasau sūtra uktā |  anye ’pi tu samudayaḥ |  katham idaṃ pratyetavyam | anyatrānyasyāpi vacanāt | uktaṃ hi bhagavatā | 
                                                                         
“karma ca tṛṣṇā ca atho avidyā saṃskārāṇāṃ hetur abhisaṃparāya” iti | 
 
punaś coktaṃ “pañca bījajātānīti sopādānasya vijñānasyaitadadhivacanam |  pṛthivīdhāturiti catasṛṇāṃ vijñānasthitīnāmetadadhivacanam” iti |  tasmād ābhiprāyikaḥ sūtreṣu nirdeśo lākṣaṇikastvabhidharme |  api tvabhinirvṛttihetuṃ brūvatā samudayasatyaṃ tṛṣṇaivoktā |  upapattyabhinirvṛttihetuṃ sahetukaṃ brūvatā gāthāyāṃ karma ca tṛṣṇā cāvidyoktā |  “karmaheturūpapattaye tṛṣṇāheturabhinirvṛttaya” iti sūtre vacanāt |  sahetusapratyayasanidānasūtrakrameṇa vā bījakṣetrabhāvaṃ pratipādayatā vijñānādayo ’ṣyuktāḥ |  kā punar uṣapattiḥ kā cābhinirvṛttiḥ |  dhātugatiyonyādiprakārabhedenātmabhāvasyoṣapadanam upapattiḥ |  abhedena punar bhavapratisaṃdhānamabhinirvṛttiḥ |  tayor yathākramaṃ karma ca bhavatṛṣṇā ca hetuḥ |  tadyathā bījaṃ śālivādijātiprakārabhedenāṅkuroopapadanasya hetuḥ |  āpaḥ punar abhedena sarvaṅkuraprarohamātrasyetyeva dṛṣṭāntaḥ |  tṛṣṇā ’bhinirvṛttiheturiti kā ’tra yuktiḥ | vītatṛṣṇasya janmābhāvāt |  ubhaye ’pi briyante |  satṛṣṇā vītatṛṣṇāś ca | satṛṣṇā eva jātā dṛśyante na vītatṛṣṇā iti |  vinā tṛṣṇayā janmābhāvāt | bhavasyābhinirvṛttau tṛṣṇāhetuṃ pratīmaḥ |  saṃtatinamanāc ca |  yatra ca satṛṣṇā tatrābhīkṣṇaṃ cittasaṃtatiṃ namantīṃ paśyāmaḥ |  tasmāt punar bhave ’ṣyevam iti vyavasyāmaḥ |  na cātmabhāva evaṃ kenacidāgṛhīto yathā tṛṣṇayā |  śuṣkamasūropasnānalepāṅgavat |  na cānyo heturevamanuṣatto yathātmasneha ityeṣā yuktiḥ | 
                                             
catvāry api satyānyuktāni bhagavatā |  dve api satye saṃvṛtisatyaṃ paramārthasatyaṃ ca |  tayoḥ kiṃ lakṣaṇam | 
     
yatra bhinnena tadbuddhiranyāpohe dhiyā ca tat |
ghaṭārthavatsaṃvṛtisat paramārthasadanyathā
|| 6.4 || 
 
yasminn avayavaśo bhinne na tadbuddhirbhavati tat saṃvṛtisat | tadyathā ghaṭaḥ |  tatra hi kapālaśo bhinne ghaṭabuddhirna bhavati |  tatra cānyānapohya dharmān buddhacyā tadbuddhirna bhavati taccāpi saṃvṛtisadveditavyam |  tadyathāmbu |  tatra hi buddhacyā rūpādīndharmānaṣohyāmbubuddhirna bhavati |  teṣv eva tu saṃvṛtisaṃjñā kṛteti saṃvṛtivaśāt ghaṭaścāmbu cāstīti brūbantaḥ satyamevāhurna mṛṣetyetatsaṃvṛtisatyam |  atonyathā paramārtha satyam |  tatra bhinne ’poi tadbudhirbhavatyeva |  anyadharmāpohe ’pi buddhacyā tat paramārthasat |  tadyathā rūpam |  tatra hi paramāṇuśo bhinne vastuni rasārhān api ca dharmānapohya buddhacyā rūpasya svabhāvabuddhirbhavatyeva |  evaṃ vedanādayo ’pi draṣṭavyāḥ |  etat paramārthena bhāvāt paramārthasatyam iti |  yathā lokottarena jñānena gṛhyate tat pṛṣṭhalabdhena vā laukikena tathā paramārthasatyam |  yathānyena tathā saṃvṛtisatyam iti pūrvācāryāḥ |  uktāni satyāni | 
                               
kathaṃ punas teṣāṃ darśanaṃ bhavati | vaktavyam | ata ādiprāthānamārabhyocyate | 
 
vṛttasthaḥ śrutacintāvānbhāvanāyāṃ prayujyate | 
 
satyāni ha draṣṭukāma ādita eva śīlaṃ pālayati |  tataḥ satyadarśanasyānulomaṃ śrutamudgṛhlātyarthaṃ vā śruṇeni |  śrutvā cintayati aviparītaṃ cintayitvā bhāvanāyāṃ prayujyate |  samādhau tasya śrutamayīṃ prajñāṃ niśritya cintāmayī jāyate |  cintāmayīṃ niśritya bhāvanāmayī jāyate | 
         
kiṃ punar āsāṃ prajñānāṃ lakṣaṇam | 
 
nāmobhayārthaviṣayā śrutamayyādikā dhiyaḥ || 6.5 || 
 
nāmālambanā kila śrutamayī prajñā | nāmārthālambanā cintāmayī |  kadācid vacyañjanenārthamākarṣati kadācid arthena vyañjanam |  arthalamvanaiva bhāvanāmayī |  sā hi vyañjananirapekṣā arthe pravartate |  tadyathā ’mbhasi plotumaśikṣitaḥ plavanneva muñcati |  kiyacchikṣitaḥ kadācit muñcet kadācid ālamvate |  suśikṣitā plavan nirapekṣastaratītyeṣa dṛṣṭāntaḥ iti vaibhāṣikāḥ |  asyāṃ tu kalpanāyāṃ cintāmayī prajñā na siddhacyatītyapare |  yā hi nāmālambanā śrutamayī prāpnoti yā ’rthālambanā bhāvanāmayīti |  idaṃ tu lakṣaṇaṃ nāniravadyaṃ vidyate |  āptavacanaprāmāṇyajātaniścayaḥ śrutamayī | yuktinidhyānajaścintāmayī |  samādhijjo bhāvanāmayīti | hetau mayaṭvidhānāt |  yadyathā ’nnamayāḥ prāṇāḥ tṛṇamayyo gāyaḥ iti | 
                         
tasya punar evaṃ bhāvanāyāṃ prayuktasya kathaṃ bhāvanā saṃpadyata ity āha | 
 
vyapakarṣadvayavataḥ 
 
yadi hi kāyacittābhyāṃ vyapakṛṣṭo bhavati | saṃsargākuśalavitarkadūrīkaraṇāt |  tattarhi vyapakarṣadvayaṃ kasya sukaraṃ bhavati | yo ’lpecchaḥ saṃtuṣṭaś ca | 
   
nāsaṃtuṣṭamahecchayoḥ | 
 
kā punar iyam asaṃtuṣṭiḥ | kā ca mahecchatā | 
 
labdhe bhūyaḥspṛhā ’tuṣṭiralabdhecchā mahecchātā || 6.6 || 
 
labdheṣu kila praṇīteṣu cīvarādiṣu bhūyaskāmata ’saṃtuṣṭiḥ |  alabdheṣu tatkāmatā mahecchatetyābhidhārmikāḥ |  nanu ca sā ’tibhūyaskāmatā ’labdha eva na labdhe bhavatīti ko ’nayorviśeṣa iti vaktavyametad |  evaṃ tu yujyate |  labdhenāpraṇītenāprabhūtena paritāpo ’saṃtuṣṭiḥ |  alabdhapraṇītaprabhūtecchā mahecchatā | 
           
viparyāsāt tadvipakṣau 
 
asaṃtuṣṭimahecchatāviparyayeṇa tatpratipakṣau veditavyau |  saṃtuṣṭiścālpecchatā ceti | 
   
tridhātvāptāmalau ca tau | 
 
tadvipakṣāviti vartate | tridhātukau ca poratisaṃyuktau ca | sāsravānāsravatvāt |  asaṃtuṣṭimahecchate ca kāmāvacaryāveva | 
   
kaḥ punar anayoralpecchatāsaṃtuṣṭacyoḥ svabhāva ity āha | 
 
alobhaḥ 
 
alobhasvabhāve hy ete | 
 
āryavaṃśāś ca 
 
alobha iti vartate | āryāṇām ebhyaḥ prasavādāryavaṃśāś catvāraḥ |  te ’pyalobhasvabhāvāḥ | 
   
teṣāṃ tuṣṭyātmakāstrayaḥ || 6.7 || 
 
saṃtuṣṭisvabhāvāḥ | cīvarapiṇḍapātaśayanāsanasaṃtuṣṭayaḥ |  prahāṇabhāvanārāmatā caturtha āryavaṃśaḥ kathamalobhasvabhāvaḥ |  bhavakāmarāgavaimukhyāt | 
     
atha caturbhir āryavaṃśaiḥ kiṃ darśitaṃ bhagavatā | 
 
karmāntena tribhir vṛttiḥ 
 
dharmasvāminā hi bhagavatā parityaktasvavṛttikarmāntebhyaḥ śiṣyebhyo mokṣārthamabhyupagatebhyo dvayaṃ prajñaptaṃ vṛttiś ca karma ca |  tribhir āryavaṃśairvṛttiś caturyena karma |  anayā vṛttyedaṃ karma kurvāṇā bhavantī na cirānmokṣaṃ prāpsyantīti |  kasmāt punar iyamīdṛśī vṛttiridaṃ ca karma prajñaptam | 
       
tṛṣṇotpādavipakṣataḥ | 
 
catvārastṛṣṇotpādāḥ sūtra uktāḥ |  “cīvarahetorbhikṣostṛṣṇotpadyamānā utpadyate pratitiṣṭhanti pratitiṣṭhati abhiniviśamānā ’bhiniviśate |  piṇḍapātahetoḥ śayyāsanahetoriti |  bhavavibhavahetorbhikṣostṛṣṇotpadyamānā utpadyata” iti vistaraḥ |  eṣāṃ pratipakṣeṇa catvāra āryavaṃśā deśitāḥ | 
         
mamāha kāravastvicchātatkālātyantaśāntaye || 6.8 || 
 
sa evārthaḥ punaḥ pariśeṣeṇocyate |  mamakāravastu cīvarādayo ’haṃ kāravastvātmabhāvaḥ |  tatrecchā tṛṣṇā |  tatra mamakāravastvicchāyāstatkālaśāntaye traya āryavaṃśā bhavanti |  ubhayecchātyantaśāntaye caturtha iti |  uktāmidaṃ yathā bhūtasya bhāvanā saṃpadyate | 
           
tasya tvevaṃ pātrobhūtasya katham tasyāṃ bhāvanāyāmavatāro bhavati | 
 
tatrāvatāro ’śubhayā cānāpānasmṛtena ca | 
 
smṛtir eva smṛtam | keṣāṃ punar aśubhayā keṣām ānāpānasmṛtyā | yathākramam 
 
adhirāgavitarkāṇām 
 
adhiko rāgo vitarkaś caiṣāṃ ta ime adhirāgavitarkāḥ |  yo hi pratyāsannamatyarthaṃ rāgacaritastasyāśubhayā |  yo hi vitarkacaritas tasyānāpānasmṛtyeti |  avicitrālambanatvād eṣāṃ vitarkopacchedāya saṃvartata ity eke |  aśubhā tu yatra saṃsthānaviśeṣālambanatvād vitarkamāvahatīti |  avahimukhatvād ity apare |  aśubhā hi cakṣurvijñānavadbahirmukhī |  tadviṣayopanidhyānāt |  tatra punaś caturvidho rāgaḥ varṇarāgaḥ saṃsthānarāgaḥ sparśarāga upacārarāgaś ca |  prathamasya pratipakṣeṇa vinolakādyālambanāmaśubhāṃ varjayanti |  dvitiyasya vikhāditakavikṣiptālambanāṃ tṛtīyasya vipaṭumnā pūyanibaddhāsthyālambanāṃ caturthasya niśceṣṭamṛtkāyālambanām |  abhadena tu śasyate 
                       
śaṅkalā sarvarāgiṇām || 6.9 || 
 
asthisaṃkaklāyāṃ hi sarvametaccaturvidhaṃ rāgastu nāstīti adhimuktiprādeśikamanaskāratvād aśubhayā na kleśaprahāṇam viṣkambhaṇaṃ tu |  sa punar ayam aśubhāṃ bhāvayan yogācāras trividha ucyate |  ādikārmikaḥ kṛtaparijayo ’tikrāntamanaskāraś ca | tatra 
     
āsamudrāsthivistārasaṃkṣepād ādikarmikaḥ | 
 
aśubhāṃ bhāvayitukāma ādito yogācāraḥ |  svāṅgāvayave cittaṃ nibadhnāti pādāṅguṣṭhe lalāṭe yatra cāsyābhir atiḥ |  sa tatra māṃsakledapītā dhimokṣakrameṇāsthiviśodhayan sakalāmasthisaṃkalāṃ paśyati |  tathaiva ca punar dvitīyāmadhimucyate yāvad vihārārāmakṣetrakrameṇa samudraparyantām pṛthivīmasthisaṃkalāṃ pūrṇāmadhimucyate ’dhimokṣābhivardhanārtham |  punaś ca saṃkṣipanyāvadekāmeva svamasthisaṃkalāmadhimucyate cittasaṃkṣepārtham |  iyatā kila kālenāśubhopariniṣpannā bhavati |  ayam ādikarmiko yogācāraḥ | 
             
pādāsthna ākapālārthatyāgāt kṛtajayaḥ smṛtaḥ || 6.10 || 
 
sa punaḥ cittasaṃkṣepaviśeṣārtha tasyāmasthiśaṅkalāyāṃ pādāsthīni hitvā śeṣaṃ manasi karoti |  evaṃ krameṇa yāvat kapālasyārdhaṃ hitvā ’rdhaṃ manasi karoti kṣayakṛtaparijayaḥ |
