(23)  Þa átto hfþingiar raða gerþ sína. (4) oc ſva gerþo þeir
Dómaldi tók arf eptir fǫður sinn, Vísbur, ok réð lǫndum.  Á hans dǫgum gerðisk i Svíþjóð sultr ok seyra.  Þá eflðu Svíar blót stór at Uppsǫlum.  It fyrsta haust blótuðu þeir yxnum, ok batnaði ekki árferð at heldr.

Domaldi took the inheritance his father and ruled over the land.  In his days there was famine and need in Sweden.  The Swedes then held a great sacrifice near Upsala.  For the first harvest they sacrificed oxen, but the crop was not bettered by it; for the next harvest they sacrificed men, but the crop was the same or even worse.  And for the third harvest many Swedes came to Upsala at the hme when the sacrifice should be held.  The chiefs then took counsel, and held to a man that Domaldi their king must be the cause of the bad seasons and also that they should have to sacrifice him in order to have (11) a good season, that they should bear their weapons against him and kill him and dye the altars with his blood. And so they did.
Sva ſegir þióðólfr. (5)
Svá segir Þjóðólfr:

So segjer Tjodolv:
Saa siger Tjodolv:
Thus says Tjodolv:
Hitt var fyʀ (6)
at folldruðo (7)
ſverþberendr (8)
ſinom drotni (9)
oc landherr (10)
a lifs vanan (11)
drørug vápn (12)
domalda bar. (13)
þa er árgiorn (14)
jota dolgi (15)
Suia kind (16)
ủm ſóa ſcylde. (17)
8. Hitt vas fyrr,
at fold ruðu
sverðberendr
sínum dróttni,
ok landherr
af lífs vǫnum
dreyrug vǫ́pn
Dómalda bar,
þás árgjǫrn
Jóta dolgi
Svía kind
of sóa skyldi.

Fordom de hende,
dei farga jordi,
sverd-kjempur,
med kongeblod.
Og mot Domalde,
dømt fraa live,
landsheren bar
blodute vaapn,
og svia-menn
av svelting leide
jute-hataren
til Hel sende.
Det var fordum,
at farvedes jorden
med kongens blod
af sverd-bærerne,
og landshæren
mod livs-lystne
Domalde bar
blodige vaaben,
da Svears folk
Jyde-fienden,
af uaar kjed,
ofre skulde.
It was long ago
That the earth was dyed
With the blood of the king,
Spilled by the sword-bearers;
And the land warriors
With happiness
Bore against Domaldi
Their blood-reddened weapons,
When the Swedish folk,
Weary of want,
Had sacrificed
The foe of the Jutes.
