We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and for a term appointed. But those who disbelieve turn away from that whereof they are warned. 3

我只本真理而創造天地萬物，我只使他們存在至一定期。不信道的人們不顧他們曾受警告的刑罰，

قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَرُونِي مَاذَا خَلَقُوا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ أَمْ لَهُمْ شِرْكٌ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ ائْتُونِي بِكِتَابٍ مِّن قَبْلِ هَٰذَا أَوْ أَثَارَةٍ مِّنْ عِلْمٍ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

4a qul
4b ʾa-raʾaytum mā tadʿūna min dūni llāhi
4c ʾarū-nī
4d māḏā ḫalaqū mina l-ʾarḍi
4e ʾam la-hum širkun fi s-samāwāti
4f ʾtū-nī bi-kitābin min qabli hāḏā ʾaw ʾaṯāratin min ʿilmin
4g ʾin kuntum ṣādiqīna

Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Have ye thought on all that ye invoke beside Allah? Show me what they have created of the earth. Or have they any portion in the heavens? Bring me a scripture before this (Scripture), or some vestige of knowledge (in support of what ye say), if ye are truthful. 4

你說：「你們告訴我吧！你們捨真主而祈禱的那些偶像怎麼應受崇拜呢？你們告訴我吧！他們曾獨自創造了大地的哪一部份呢？還是他們曾與真主共同創造諸天呢？你們昭示我此經之前的一本天經，或殘存的古學吧，如果你們是說實話的。」

وَمَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّن يَدْعُو مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ مَن لَّا يَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَهُمْ عَن دُعَائِهِمْ غَافِلُونَ

5a wa-man ʾaḍallu mim-man yadʿū min dūni llāhi
man lā yastaǧību la-hū ʾilā yawmi l-qiyāmati
5b wa-hum ʿan duʿāʾi-him ġāfilūna

And who is further astray than those who, instead of Allah, pray unto such as hear not their prayer until the Day of Resurrection, and are unconscious of their prayer, 5

他們捨真主而祈禱那些到復活日也不會答應他們，而且忽視他們的祈禱的偶像，有誰比他們更迷誤呢？

وَإِذَا حُشِرَ النَّاسُ كَانُوا لَهُمْ أَعْدَاءً وَكَانُوا بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ كَافِرِينَ

6a wa-ʾiḏā ḥušira n-nāsu
6b kānū la-hum ʾaʿdāʾan
6c wa-kānū bi-ʿibādati-him kāfirīna

And when mankind are gathered (to the Judgment) will become enemies for them, and will become deniers of having been worshipped. 6

當眾人被集合的時候，那些被崇拜的，要變成那些崇拜者的仇敵，並且否認自己曾受過他們的崇拜。

وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا بَيِّنَاتٍ قَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ هَٰذَا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ

7a wa-ʾiḏā tutlā ʿalay-him ʾāyātu-nā bayyinātin
7b qāla llaḏīna kafarū li-l-ḥaqqi
7c lammā ǧāʾa-hum
7d hāḏā siḥrun mubīnun

And when Our clear revelations are recited unto them, those who disbelieve say of the Truth when it reacheth them: This is mere magic. 7

有人對他們誦讀我的明顯的蹟象的時候，不信道的人們評論剛降臨他們的真理說：「這是明顯的魔術。」

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَاهُ قُلْ إِنِ افْتَرَيْتُهُ فَلَا تَمْلِكُونَ لِي مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِ كَفَىٰ بِهِ شَهِيدًا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ

8a ʾam yaqūlūna
8b ftarā-hu
8c qul
8d ʾini ftaraytu-hū
8e fa-lā tamlikūna l-ī mina llāhi šayʾan
8f huwa ʾaʿlamu bi-mā tufīḍūna fī-hi
8g kafā bi-hī šahīdan bayn-ī wa-bayna-kum
8h wa-huwa l-ġafūru r-raḥīmu

Or say they: He hath invented it? Say (O Muhammad): If I have invented it, still ye have no power to support me against Allah. He is Best Aware of what ye say among yourselves concerning it. He sufficeth for a witness between me and you. And He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. 8

他們甚至說：「他偽造《古蘭經》。」你說：「如果我偽造《古蘭經》，那末，你們不能為我抵御真主的一點刑罰。他全知你們對於《古蘭經》的誹謗，他足為我和你們之間的見証。他確是至赦的，確是至慈的。」

قُلْ مَا كُنتُ بِدْعًا مِّنَ الرُّسُلِ وَمَا أَدْرِي مَا يُفْعَلُ بِي وَلَا بِكُمْ إِنْ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَىٰ إِلَيَّ وَمَا أَنَا إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

9a qul
9b mā kuntu bidʿan mina r-rusuli
9c wa-mā ʾadrī
9d mā yufʿalu b-ī wa-lā bi-kum
9e ʾin ʾattabiʿu ʾil-lā mā yūḥā ʾilay-ya
9f wa-mā ʾanā ʾil-lā naḏīrun mubīnun

Say: I am no new thing among the messengers (of Allah), nor know I what will be done with me or with you. I do but follow that which is inspired in me, and I am but a plain warner. 9

你說：「我不是破天荒的天使；我不知道我要遭遇甚麼，也不知道你們要遭遇甚麼，我只遵從我所受的啟示，我只是一個坦率的警告者。」

قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِن كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ وَكَفَرْتُم بِهِ وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٌ مِّن بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ عَلَىٰ مِثْلِهِ فَآمَنَ وَاسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ

10a qul
10b ʾa-raʾaytum
10c ʾin kāna min ʿindi llāhi
10d wa-kafartum bi-hī
10e wa-šahida šāhidun min banī ʾisrāʾīla ʿalā miṯli-hī
10f fa-ʾāmana
10g wa-stakbartum
10h ʾinna llāha lā yahdī l-qawma ẓ-ẓālimīna

Bethink you: If it is from Allah and ye disbelieve therein, and a witness of the Children of Israel hath already testified to the like thereof and hath believed, and ye are too proud (what plight is yours)? Lo! Allah guideth not wrong-doing folk. 10

你說：「你們告訴我吧！如果《古蘭經》是從真主那裡降示的，而你們不信它——以色列後裔中的一個見証者，已作証其相似而信奉之，你們卻不屑信奉——那末，誰比你們更迷誤呢？真主必定不引導不義的民眾。」

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَوْ كَانَ خَيْرًا مَّا سَبَقُونَا إِلَيْهِ وَإِذْ لَمْ يَهْتَدُوا بِهِ فَسَيَقُولُونَ هَٰذَا إِفْكٌ قَدِيمٌ

11a wa-qāla llaḏīna kafarū li-llaḏīna ʾāmanū
11b law kāna ḫayran
11c mā sabaqū-nā ʾilay-hi
11d wa-ʾiḏ lam yahtadū bi-hī
11e fa-sa-yaqūlūna
11f hāḏā ʾifkun qadīmun

And those who disbelieve say of those who believe: If it had been (any) good, they would not have been before us in attaining it. And since they will not be guided by it, they say: This is an ancient lie; 11

不信道的人們評論道的人們說：「假若那是一件善事，他們不得在我們前信奉它。」他們沒有因他而遵循正道，故他們的偏執已顯著了，他們要說：「這是陳腐的妄言。」

وَمِن قَبْلِهِ كِتَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِمَامًا وَرَحْمَةً وَهَٰذَا كِتَابٌ مُّصَدِّقٌ لِّسَانًا عَرَبِيًّا لِّيُنذِرَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُحْسِنِينَ

12a wa-min qabli-hī kitābu mūsā ʾimāman wa-raḥmatan
12b wa-hāḏā kitābun muṣaddiqun lisānan ʿarabīyan
12c li-yunḏira llaḏīna ẓalamū
12b wa-bušrā li-l-muḥsinīna

When before it there was the Scripture of Moses, an example and a mercy; and this is a confirming Scripture in the Arabic language, that it may warn those who do wrong and bring good tidings for the righteous. 12

在它之前，有穆薩的經典，做世人的準繩和恩惠。這是一本阿拉伯文的經典，能証實以前的天經，以便它警告不義的人們，並做行善者的佳音。

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا رَبُّنَا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَقَامُوا فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

13a P ʾinna llaḏīna qālū
13b rabbu-nā llāhu
13c ṯumma staqāmū
13a fa-lā ḫawfun ʿalay-him
13e wa-lā hum yaḥzanūna

Lo! those who say: Our Lord is Allah, and thereafter walk aright, there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve. 13

說過「我們的主是真主」，然後遵守正道的人們，將來沒有恐懼，也不憂愁；

أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

14 ʾulāʾika ʾaṣḥābu l-ǧannati
ḫālidīna fī-hā
ǧazāʾan bi-mā kānū yaʿmalūna

Such are rightful owners of the Garden, immortal therein, as a reward for what they used to do. 14

這等人，是樂園的居民，將永居其中；這是為了報酬他們的行為。

وَوَصَّيْنَا الْإِنسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ إِحْسَانًا حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ كُرْهًا وَوَضَعَتْهُ كُرْهًا وَحَمْلُهُ وَفِصَالُهُ ثَلَاثُونَ شَهْرًا حَتَّىٰ إِذَا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ وَبَلَغَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً قَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي فِي ذُرِّيَّتِي إِنِّي تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَإِنِّي مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ

15a wa-waṣṣaynā l-ʾinsāna bi-wāliday-hi ʾiḥsānan
15b ḥamalat-hu ʾummu-hū kurhan
15c wa-waḍaʿat-hu kurhan
15d wa-ḥamlu-hū wa-fiṣālu-hū ṯalāṯūna šahran
15e ḥattā
15f ʾiḏā balaġa ʾašudda-hū
15g wa-balaġa ʾarbaʿīna sanatan
15e qāla
15h V rabb-i
15h ʾawziʿ-nī
15i ʾan ʾaškura niʿmata-ka
15i R llatī ʾanʿamta ʿalay-ya wa-ʿalā wāliday-ya
15j wa-ʾan ʾaʿmala ṣāliḥan
15j R tarḍā-hu
15k wa-ʾaṣliḥ l-ī fī ḏurrīyat-ī
15l ʾin-nī tubtu ʾilay-ka
15m wa-ʾin-nī mina l-muslimīna

And We have commended unto man kindness toward parents. His mother beareth him with reluctance, and bringeth him forth with reluctance, and the bearing of him and the weaning of him is thirty months, till, when he attaineth full strength and reacheth forty years, he saith: My Lord! Arouse me that I may give thanks for the favour wherewith Thou hast favoured me and my parents, and that I may do right acceptable unto Thee. And be gracious unto me in the matter of my seed. Lo! I have turned unto Thee repentant, and lo! I am of those who surrender (unto Thee). 15

我曾命人孝敬父母；他的母親，辛苦地懷他，辛苦地生他，他受胎和斷乳的時期，共計三十個月。當他達到壯年，再達到四十歲的的候，他說：「我的主啊！求你啟示我，使我感謝你所施於我和我的父母的恩惠，並行你所喜悅的善事。求你為我改善我的後裔。我確已向你悔罪，我確是一個順服者。」

أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ نَتَقَبَّلُ عَنْهُمْ أَحْسَنَ مَا عَمِلُوا وَنَتَجَاوَزُ عَن سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ فِي أَصْحَابِ الْجَنَّةِ وَعْدَ الصِّدْقِ الَّذِي كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ

16a ʾulāʾika llaḏīna nataqabbalu ʿan-hum ʾaḥsana mā ʿamilū
wa-nataǧāwazu ʿan sayyiʾāti-him
16b fī ʾaṣḥābi l-ǧannati
16c waʿda ṣ-ṣidqi
16c R llaḏī kānū yūʿadūna

Those are they from whom We accept the best of what they do, and overlook their evil deeds. (They are) among the owners of the Garden. This is the true promise which they were promised (in the world). 16

這等人，我接受他們的善功，我赦宥他們的罪惡，他們將成為樂園的居民。這是他們所受的真實的應許。

وَالَّذِي قَالَ لِوَالِدَيْهِ أُفٍّ لَّكُمَا أَتَعِدَانِنِي أَنْ أُخْرَجَ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ الْقُرُونُ مِن قَبْلِي وَهُمَا يَسْتَغِيثَانِ اللَّهَ وَيْلَكَ آمِنْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَيَقُولُ مَا هَٰذَا إِلَّا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

17a wa-llaḏī qāla li-wāliday-hi
17b J ʾuffin la-kumā
17c ʾa-taʿidāni-nī
17d ʾan ʾuḫraǧa
17e wa-qad ḫalati l-qurūnu min qabl-ī
17f wa-humā yastaġīṯāni llāha
17g J wayla-ka
17h ʾāmin
17i ʾinna waʿda llāhi ḥaqqun
17j fa-yaqūlu
17k mā hāḏā ʾil-lā ʾasāṭīru l-ʾawwalīna

And whoso saith unto his parents: Fie upon you both! Do ye threaten me that I shall be brought forth (again) when generations before me have passed away? And they twain cry unto Allah for help (and say): Woe unto thee! Believe! Lo! the promise of Allah is true. But he saith: This is naught save fables of the men of old: 17

有人對他的父母說：「唉！你們倆恫嚇我說：我要復活嗎？在我之前，有許多世代，確已逝去了。」他們倆向真主求援，並且說：「傷哉你！你信道吧，真主的應許，確是真實的！」他說：「這只是古人的故事。」

أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقَوْلُ فِي أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا خَاسِرِينَ

18a ʾulāʾika llaḏīna ḥaqqa ʿalay-himu l-qawlu fī ʾumamin
18a R qad ḫalat min qabli-him mina l-ǧinni wa-l-ʾinsi
18b ʾinna-hum kānū ḫāsirīna

Such are those on whom the Word concerning nations of the jinn and mankind which have passed away before them hath effect. Lo! they are the losers. 18

這等人，應當受刑罰的判決，而入於以前逝去的精靈和人類的各民族之中，他們確是虧折的。

وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَاتٌ مِّمَّا عَمِلُوا وَلِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ

19a wa-li-kullin daraǧātun mim-mā ʿamilū
19b wa-li-yuwaffiya-hum ʾaʿmāla-hum
19c wa-hum lā yuẓlamūna

And for all there will be ranks from what they do, that He may pay them for their deeds; and they will not be wronged. 19

他們將因自己的行為而各有若干等級，以便真主對他們的行為給予完全的報酬，他們不受虧枉。

وَيَوْمَ يُعْرَضُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا عَلَى النَّارِ أَذْهَبْتُمْ طَيِّبَاتِكُمْ فِي حَيَاتِكُمُ الدُّنْيَا وَاسْتَمْتَعْتُم بِهَا فَالْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ عَذَابَ الْهُونِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَفْسُقُونَ

20a wa-yawma yuʿraḍu llaḏīna kafarū ʿalā n-nāri
20b ʾaḏhabtum ṭayyibāti-kum fī ḥayāti-kumu d-dunyā
20c wa-stamtaʿtum bi-hā
20d fa-l-yawma tuǧzawna ʿaḏāba l-hūni
bi-mā kuntum tastakbirūna fi l-ʾarḍi bi-ġayri l-ḥaqqi
wa-bi-mā kuntum tafsuqūna

And on the day when those who disbelieve are exposed to the Fire (it will be said): Ye squandered your good things in the life of the world and sought comfort therein. Now this day ye are rewarded with the doom of ignominy because ye were disdainful in the land without a right, and because ye used to transgress. 20

不信道的人們遭受火刑之日，或者將對他們說：「你們在塵世生活中，已將你們的福份消盡享完；今日你們應受凌辱的刑罰，因為你們曾在地方上妄自尊大，也因為你們曾經犯罪。」

وَاذْكُرْ أَخَا عَادٍ إِذْ أَنذَرَ قَوْمَهُ بِالْأَحْقَافِ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ النُّذُرُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا اللَّهَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

21a wa-ḏkur ʾaḫā ʿādin
21b ʾiḏ ʾanḏara qawma-hū bi-l-ʾaḥqāfi
21c wa-qad ḫalati n-nuḏuru min bayni yaday-hi wa-min ḫalfi-hī
21d ʾal-lā taʿbudū ʾil-lā llāha
21e ʾin-nī ʾaḫāfu ʿalay-kum ʿaḏāba yawmin ʿaẓīmin

And make mention (O Muhammad) of the brother of A’ad when he warned his folk among the wind-curved sandhills - and verily warners came and went before and after him - saying: Serve none but Allah. Lo! I fear for you the doom of a tremendous Day. 21

你紀念阿德人的弟兄吧！當時，他在沙丘警告他的宗族——在他以前和以後，有許多警告者，確已逝去了——他說：「你們應該只崇拜真主，我的確怕你們遭受重大日的刑罰。」

قَالُوا أَجِئْتَنَا لِتَأْفِكَنَا عَنْ آلِهَتِنَا فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ

22a qālū
22b ʾa-ǧiʾta-nā
22c li-taʾfika-nā ʿan ʾālihati-nā
22d fa-ʾti-nā bi-mā taʿidu-nā
22e ʾin kunta mina ṣ-ṣādiqīna

They said: Hast come to turn us away from our gods? Then bring upon us that wherewith thou threatenest us, if thou art of the truthful. 22

他們說：「你來阻止我們崇拜我們的眾神靈嗎？你昭示我們你所用以恫嚇我們的刑罰吧！如果你是說實話的！」

قَالَ إِنَّمَا الْعِلْمُ عِندَ اللَّهِ وَأُبَلِّغُكُم مَّا أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِ وَلَٰكِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ قَوْمًا تَجْهَلُونَ

23a qāla
23b ʾinna-mā l-ʿilmu ʿinda llāhi
23c wa-ʾuballiġu-kum mā ʾursiltu bi-hī
23d wa-lākin-nī ʾarā-kum qawman
23d R taǧhalūna

He said: The knowledge is with Allah only. I convey unto you that wherewith I have been sent, but I see you are a folk that know not. 23

他說：「只有真主知道刑罰何時降臨你們，我只能把我的使命傳達給你們，但我以為你們是無知的民眾。」

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ عَارِضًا مُّسْتَقْبِلَ أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ قَالُوا هَٰذَا عَارِضٌ مُّمْطِرُنَا بَلْ هُوَ مَا اسْتَعْجَلْتُم بِهِ رِيحٌ فِيهَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

24a fa-lammā raʾaw-hu ʿāriḍan mustaqbila ʾawdiyati-him
24b qālū
24c hāḏā ʿāriḍun mumṭiru-nā
24d bal huwa mā staʿǧaltum bi-hī
rīḥun
24d R fī-hā ʿaḏābun ʾalīmun

Then, when they beheld it as a dense cloud coming toward their valleys, they said: Here is a cloud bringing us rain. Nay, but it is that which ye did seek to hasten, a wind wherein is painful torment, 24

他們看見天邊有一朵雲，向著他們的山谷移動，他們說：「這朵雲會降雨給我們。」不然，這是你們賈求早日實現的，這是狂風，其中有痛苦的刑罰。

تُدَمِّرُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ بِأَمْرِ رَبِّهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا لَا يُرَىٰ إِلَّا مَسَاكِنُهُمْ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْقَوْمَ الْمُجْرِمِينَ

25a (24dR) tudammiru kulla šayʾin bi-ʾamri rabbi-hā
25b fa-ʾaṣbaḥū lā yurā ʾil-lā masākinu-hum
25c ka-ḏālika naǧzī l-qawma l-muǧrimīna

Destroying all things by commandment of its Lord. And morning found them so that naught could be seen save their dwellings. Thus do We reward the guilty folk. 25

它奉它的主的命令而毀滅一切。一旦之間，不見他們，只見他們的房屋。我要如此報酬犯罪的民眾。

وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّاهُمْ فِيمَا إِن مَّكَّنَّاكُمْ فِيهِ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ سَمْعًا وَأَبْصَارًا وَأَفْئِدَةً فَمَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَلَا أَبْصَارُهُمْ وَلَا أَفْئِدَتُهُم مِّن شَيْءٍ إِذْ كَانُوا يَجْحَدُونَ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ

26a wa-la-qad makkannā-hum fī-mā ʾin makkannā-kum fī-hi
26b wa-ǧaʿalnā la-hum samʿan wa-ʾabṣāran wa-ʾafʾidatan
26c fa-mā ʾaġnā ʿan-hum samʿu-hum wa-lā ʾabṣāru-hum wa-lā ʾafʾidatu-hum
min šayʾin
26d ʾiḏ kānū yaǧḥadūna bi-ʾāyāti llāhi
26e wa-ḥāqa bi-him mā kānū bi-hī yastahziʾūna

And verily We had empowered them with that wherewith We have not empowered you, and had assigned them ears and eyes and hearts; but their ears and eyes and hearts availed them naught since they denied the revelations of Allah; and what they used to mock befell them. 26

我確已把沒有賞賜你們的地位賞賜了他們，我曾賦予他們聰明睿智；但他們的聰明睿智，對於他們毫無裨益，因為他們否認真主的蹟象，所以他們一向所嘲笑的刑罰降臨他們了。

وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا مَا حَوْلَكُم مِّنَ الْقُرَىٰ وَصَرَّفْنَا الْآيَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

27a wa-la-qad ʾahlaknā mā ḥawla-kum mina l-qurā
27b wa-ṣarrafnā l-ʾāyāti
27c laʿalla-hum yarǧiʿūna

And verily We have destroyed townships round about you, and displayed (for them) Our revelation, that haply they might return. 27

我確已毀滅你們四鄰的城市。我反覆昭示各種蹟象，以便他們悔悟。

فَلَوْلَا نَصَرَهُمُ الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ قُرْبَانًا آلِهَةً بَلْ ضَلُّوا عَنْهُمْ وَذَٰلِكَ إِفْكُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ

28a fa-law-lā naṣara-humu llaḏīna ttaḫaḏū min dūni llāhi qurbānan ʾālihatan
28b bal ḍallū ʿan-hum
28c wa-ḏālika ʾifku-hum
28d wa-mā kānū yaftarūna

Then why did those whom they had chosen for gods as a way of approach (unto Allah) not help them? Nay, but they did fail them utterly. And (all) that was their lie, and what they used to invent. 28

他們捨真主而奉為神靈，以求親近真主的偶像，怎麼不相助他們呢！不然，他們已迴避他們了。那是他們的妄言，也是他們所偽造的。

وَإِذْ صَرَفْنَا إِلَيْكَ نَفَرًا مِّنَ الْجِنِّ يَسْتَمِعُونَ الْقُرْآنَ فَلَمَّا حَضَرُوهُ قَالُوا أَنصِتُوا فَلَمَّا قُضِيَ وَلَّوْا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِم مُّنذِرِينَ

29a wa-ʾiḏ ṣarafnā ʾilay-ka nafaran mina l-ǧinni
29b yastamiʿūna l-qurʾāna
29c fa-lammā ḥaḍarū-hu
29d qālū
29e ʾanṣitū
29f fa-lammā quḍiya
29g wallaw ʾilā qawmi-him
munḏirīna

And when We inclined toward thee (Muhammad) certain of the jinn, who wished to hear the Qur’an and, when they were in its presence, said: Give ear! and, when it was finished, turned back to their people, warning. 29

當時，我曾使一伙精靈，走到你面前，來靜聽《古蘭經》。當他們來到了他面前的時候，他們說：「大家靜聽吧！」誦讀既畢，他們就回去警告他們的宗族，

قَالُوا يَا قَوْمَنَا إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا كِتَابًا أُنزِلَ مِن بَعْدِ مُوسَىٰ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْحَقِّ وَإِلَىٰ طَرِيقٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

30a qālū
30b V yā-qawma-nā
30b ʾin-nā samiʿnā kitāban
30b R1 ʾunzila min baʿdi mūsā
30b muṣaddiqan li-mā bayna yaday-hi
30b R2 yahdī ʾilā l-ḥaqqi wa-ʾilā ṭarīqin mustaqīmin

They said: O our people! Lo! we have heard a Scripture which hath been revealed after Moses, confirming that which was before it, guiding unto the truth and a right road. 30

他們說：「我們的宗族啊！我們確已聽見一本在穆薩之後降示的經典，它能証實以前的天經，能指引真理和正路。

يَا قَوْمَنَا أَجِيبُوا دَاعِيَ اللَّهِ وَآمِنُوا بِهِ يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُجِرْكُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

31a V yā-qawma-nā
31a ʾaǧībū dāʿiya llāhi
31b wa-ʾāminū bi-hī
31c yaġfir la-kum min ḏunūbi-kum
31d wa-yuǧir-kum min ʿaḏābin ʾalīmin

O our people! respond to Allah’s summoner and believe in Him. He will forgive you some of your sins and guard you from a painful doom. 31

我們的家族啊！你們當應答真主的號召者，而歸信真主，真主將赦宥你們的一部份罪過，並使你們得免於痛苦的刑罰。

وَمَن لَّا يُجِبْ دَاعِيَ اللَّهِ فَلَيْسَ بِمُعْجِزٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَيْسَ لَهُ مِن دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءُ أُولَٰئِكَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ

32a wa-man lā yuǧib dāʿiya llāhi
32b fa-laysa bi-muʿǧizin fi l-ʾarḍi
32c wa-laysa la-hū min dūni-hī ʾawliyāʾu
32d ʾulāʾika fī ḍalālin mubīnin

And whoso respondeth not to Allah’s summoner he can nowise escape in the earth, and he hath no protecting friends instead of Him. Such are in error manifest. 32

不應答真主號召者的人，在大地上絕不能逃避天譴，除真主外，他們絕無保護者，這等人是在明顯的迷誤中的。」

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَلَمْ يَعْيَ بِخَلْقِهِنَّ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَىٰ أَن يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَىٰ بَلَىٰ إِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

33a ʾa-wa-lam yaraw
33b ʾanna llāha
33b R llaḏī ḫalaqa s-samāwāti wa-l-ʾarḍa
33c wa-lam yaʿya bi-ḫalqi-hinna
33b bi-qādirin ʿalā ʾan yuḥyiya l-mawtā
33d balā
33e ʾinna-hū ʿalā kulli šayʾin qadīrun

Have they not seen that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth and was not wearied by their creation, is Able to give life to the dead? Aye, He verily is Able to do all things. 33

創造天地而不感覺疲乏的真主，是能使死者復活的。難道他們不知道嗎？是的，他對於萬事是全能的。

وَيَوْمَ يُعْرَضُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا عَلَى النَّارِ أَلَيْسَ هَٰذَا بِالْحَقِّ قَالُوا بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّنَا قَالَ فَذُوقُوا الْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ

34a wa-yawma yuʿraḍu llaḏīna kafarū ʿalā n-nāri
34b ʾa-laysa hāḏā bi-l-ḥaqqi
34c qālū
34d balā wa-rabbi-nā
34e qāla
34f fa-ḏūqū l-ʿaḏāba bi-mā kuntum takfurūna

And on the day when those who disbelieve are exposed to the Fire (they will be asked): Is not this real? They will say: Yea, by our Lord. He will say: Then taste the doom for that ye disbelieved. 34

不信道的人們遭受火刑之日，或者將對他們說：「難道這刑罰不是真實的嗎？」他們將說：「是真實的，以我們的主盟誓！」他將說：「你們嘗試刑罰吧！因為你們沒有信道。」

فَاصْبِرْ كَمَا صَبَرَ أُولُو الْعَزْمِ مِنَ الرُّسُلِ وَلَا تَسْتَعْجِل لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ مَا يُوعَدُونَ لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلَّا سَاعَةً مِّن نَّهَارٍ بَلَاغٌ فَهَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ

35a fa-ṣbir
35b ka-mā ṣabara ʾulū l-ʿazmi mina r-rusuli
35c wa-lā tastaʿǧil la-hum
35d ka-ʾanna-hum yawma yarawna mā yūʿadūna
lam yalbaṯū ʾil-lā sāʿatan min nahārin
35e balāġun
35f fa-hal yuhlaku ʾil-lā l-qawmu l-fāsiqūna

Then have patience (O Muhammad) even as the stout of heart among the messengers (of old) had patience, and seek not to hasten on (the doom) for them. On the day when they see that which they are promised (it will seem to them) as though they had tarried but an hour of daylight. A clear message. Shall any be destroyed save evil-living folk? 35

你應當堅忍，如有決心的眾使者那樣堅忍，你不要要求他們所應得的刑罰早日實現。他們眼見自己所被恐嚇的刑罰之日，他們將覺得彷彿在塵世只在白晝逗留過片刻。這是一個通告。唯悖逆的民眾，才遭毀滅。
