The latter may belong to a group of roots that seem to be derived from, or extensions of, a bi-consonantal basis ↗*ḪR- ‘to split, mince, chop, throw into disorder, confuse, spoil’, to which also belong ↗ḪRBṬ, ↗ḪRBQ, ↗ḪRṬ, ↗ḪRQ, ↗ḪRM.
