2.VII Agni 
śréṣṭhaṃ yaviṣṭha bhārata ágne dyumántam ā́ bhara |
váso puruspŕ̥haṃ rayím || 
1 VASU, thou most youthful God, Bhārata, Agni, bring us wealth, Excellent, splendid, much-desired. 
mā́ no árātir īśata devásya mártiyasya ca |
párṣi tásyā utá dviṣáḥ || 
2 Let no malignity prevail against us, either God's or man's. Save us from this and enmity. 
víśvā utá tváyā vayáṃ dhā́rā udaníyā iva |
áti gāhemahi dvíṣaḥ || 
3 So through thy favour may we force through all our enemies a way, As ’twere through streaming water-floods. 
śúciḥ pavāka+ vándiyaḥ ágne br̥hád ví rocase |
tuváṃ ghr̥tébhir ā́hutaḥ || 
4 Thou, Purifier Agni, high shinest forth, bright, adorable, When worshipped with the sacred oil. 
tuváṃ no asi bhārata ágne vaśā́bhir ukṣábhiḥ |
aṣṭā́padībhir ā́hutaḥ || 
5 Ours art thou, Agni, Bhārata, honoured by us with barren cows, With bullocks and with kine in calf 
drúannaḥ sarpírāsutiḥ pratnó hótā váreṇiyaḥ |
sáhasas putró ádbhutaḥ || 
6 Wood-fed, bedewed with sacred oil, ancient, Invoker, excellent, The Son of Strength, the Wonderful.
