▪ [v1] : Aram ṣinnâ ‘basket’, which accord. to Klein1987 is the etymon of Ar ṣann, is believed by some to be orig. a *‘basket made of thorns’, cf. Hbr ṣēn ‘thorn’ (perh. related to NewSyr ṣurṣīnā ‘thistle’1 ).
