▪ Dozy1881 thinks that the marīsaẗ type of beer, like the hot wind called marīsī, blowing from southern Egypt, take their name from Copt marēs ‘country of the south, southern region’¹ (Copt ma ‘country’ + rēs ‘south’ [cf. Eg ʕ-rs.j ‘southern province; Upper Egypt’ – ThLAeg]).
