Not secured whether the word is Sem or an Ar innovation. If the former, one could follow TB2007 in reconstructing Sem *raml‑ ‘sand’. In ClassAr the derivational register is much richer than in MSA. – The word may also be the etymon of other values of ↗√RML, particularly the complex around ‘widow’ (↗ʔarmalaẗ).
